Tamron SP AF17-50mm F/2.8 LD Aspherical for Nikon

Another new addition to the family, replaces the "D80 kit-lens". So, it's time to say goodbye to our AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5G IF-ED lens ... and hello to my Tamron!
Why the change? F/2.8 across the entire zoom spectrum, perfect for low-light shooting sans flash, and bokeh bokeh bokeh!

Good construction quality, no complaints! However, beware that the focus noise is something to get used to ... it is however bloody quick to focus!

It comes with a petal type lens hood as well. Paying a third less then the equivalent F/2.8 Nikkor (Nikon) lens for performance that I could probably never tell apart, and getting a simple box rather then the trademark "gold" Nikon box ... I feel that this is a remarkably good value and versatile lens!

Real life results from Juliansi.blogspot.com ... Here's my first workout with this lovely new lens! Ramadan Bazaar at Shah Alam Stadium

About RM$1K from a Nikon Forumer with the Hoya Pro1 filter, about a year old and looked hardly used. Happy Happy Happy!
