Selamat pulang - KL Sentral

Arrived at KLIA on a direct flight from Abu Dhabi, and wandered around KLIA to find my way to the KLIA Expres station :-) The train was already at the platform, and the attendant at the ticket booth said to just hop-in, and I could pay when I arrived at my destination. Nice smooth ride, about 25 minutes from KLIA to Sentral.

Train ride cost 35 RM one way (About 11 USD), and sure beats taking a bashed up Perdana-limo!

Old Town Kopitiam - KLIA Airport, Malaysia

We are so glad Old Town has set up shop at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).
Previous review: December 2011

Where else in the world would you have White Coffee, Assam Laksa and Kaya Toast at 3:40am in the morning? Heh heh... only in Malaysia.

The perfect sending off ... adieu Malaysia, you shall be dearly missed.

Under RM$30 (10 USD) for a hearty meal ...

Golden Lounge, KLIA - Kuala Lumpur Airport

The Golden Lounge at KLIA is pretty nice :-)

Tiger beer and Sup Ekor ... great combo! Adieu Malaysia for 2011 ... see you in 2012!

You can now enjoy Old Town Kopi at KLIA, Malaysia

Here was my last meal in KL as I was recently leaving KLIA (KUL International Airport) ... Old Town is now open next to the Aerotrain station / Harrods. Yay!

I really enjoyed the Kai See Hor Fun (Chicken noodles in broth - An Ipoh favourite!), with some "White" coffee. Ahh ... bliss.

RM$15 or USD$5 ... Great value :-) especially by AIRPORT standards!

Qatar Airways - Flight to Shanghai, then Wuzhen in China

Flight: QR 888
Departure: Doha, Qatar @ 1:00am
Arrival: Shanghai, Pudong Terminal 2, China @ 2:40pm
Plane: Boeing 777-300ER

What we loved most about this flight, besides the price, was how child-friendly the staff were (Spongebob Squarepants giveaways, baby food, friendly cabin crew .. Excellent!).

The drive from Shanghai's Pudong Airport to scenic Wuzhen takes between 2-3 hours.

Wuzhen is located in the center of the six ancient towns south of Yangtze River, 17 kilometres (11 mi) north of the city of Tongxiang. Wuzhen displays its history through its ancient stone bridges, stone pathways and delicate wood carvings. The town also has a rich cultural background, according to Wikipedia.

Wuzhen is divided into 6 districts. These are: the traditional workshops district, the traditional local-styled dwelling houses district, the traditional culture district, the traditional food and beverage district, the traditional shops and stores district, and the water township customs and life district. Following an east-west-east circuit created by these six districts, visitors can witness reenactment of traditional practices and cultures. Again, this is info taken from Wikipedia.

The art of making Soya Sauce!

I enjoy "suin-mui" or preserved plums, the shop on the right only sells such sweets!

EY514 arrives in Abu Dhabi International - AUH

As our flight EY514 from Amman, Jordan back to AUH was about to land ...

Welcome to Abu Dhabi ...

Abu Dhabi's brand-new (1 year old, costing 108 Million USD) Air Traffic Control Complex (ATCC) is positioned midway between the two runways and includes a 5-storey technical and support building integrated with a 110-metre high visual control tower, and (not surprisingly) happens to be the tallest in the region.

Clean, and nearly-new strollers for free hire when you land :-) Perfect!

Goodbye Madaba and Queen Alia Airport, Amman - Jordan

View from our balconey at Mosaic City Hotel - Madaba, which is a nice 21 room family-run hotel. You can contact them at +962 5 3251313.

Queen Alia airport, Amman - Jordan

Our flight wasn't full :-) I had the entire row to myself.

My Lamb Kofta lunch on Etihad EY514, not the best meal I have had on our "local" airlines to be honest. The chef was a little heavy on the salt in this instance!

ps. One last shot of our time in Jordan. Our bottle of Mount Nebo ... Wine of the Holy Land :-) This was actually a 2009 Cardinal Rouge Dry. Hope its good!

Cheap Duty-free, Bengaluru or Bangalore Airport

Time to head back to Dubai ... Emirates.

What I brought back from Duty Free Paradise at Bengaluru :-)

Great value champers and wines at Bangalore Airport :-) Yes, the allowance for UAE is 5 bottles, nice eh!

Flight from Dubai to Bangalore, India

Dubai International Airport, DXB one afternoon ...
Nope, this ain't Paul the Octopus!
3 hour 40 minute flight from Dubai to Bangalore...
The food isn't bad, comparable to Etihad (Abu Dhabi's airlines) ...

Arrival at BLR, Bangalore International. Nice city airport, and not half as chaotic as Mumbai!

Lots of steel and glass, nice and airey!
