Roast Duck, Nasi Lemak and Goreng Pisang buffet at home!

Here's our late-tea buffet before I left home...
Klang's finest duck? Look no further... it's here!
Add: No. 180, Jalan Batu Unjur, Bayu Perdana 1, Klang
Located: Near the corner Maybank, situated across from Caltex station
Tel: +603 3324 2295 or +6012 5384 680
How does one ta-pao duck and still have the skin relatively CRISPY ... Just punch a hole in the box, to ensure that condensation doesn't build up and make the skin soggy :-) Easy!
Tasty, delicious, firm to bite ... I like. And the chilli sauce is truly magical!

Ah, couldn't resist a pack of Nasi Lemak bungkus from the legendary goreng pisang stall of Bayu Perdana, Klang too ...

And finally, some goreng pisang washed down with Robert Mondavi Chardonnay!
I shall miss Malaysia... again!

Its not all about pork ... I love goreng pisang too!

Time: 5pm, Saturday

Even in the limited time I had in KL recently , I squeezed in some pork-free time ... Here's our favourite Goreng Pisang, found in Klang :-)

Add: End of Jalan Batu Unjur 6, Bayu Perdana, Klang
Located: Down the road from Restaurant Chia Siang, near the "u-turn" off the main road

Nescafe followed by Goreng Pisang, that has a perfect batter and is delicately fried. Priced to perfection too at 5 or 6 pcs per ringgit. Nice! I love Malaysia!

The best Goreng Pisang in Klang? Quite possibly at Bayu Perdana!

What are all these people queueing up for at Bayu Perdana, near Taman Chi Liung in Klang?

We had heard legends of this mythical goreng pisang stall, and my mum reinforced that it was good and she had heard that it was in a place called "Bayu Perdana" in Klang. Upon checking through a Klang makan forum , we went hunting!

Patience is a virtue ... We waited about ten minutes, but that was on a week day afternoon. Be prepared for a wait of up to 30 minutes, if you believe what was written in the Klang forum! Two wok-fulls of goreng pisang were being managed by the 2 chefs, and these woks sold out in five minutes!

Simple, cheap (RM$1 buys you FIVE pieces of magic!), crispy, sweet and delicious!

Here's what our RM$3 portion looked like when we brought them home, we couldn't resist scoffing on 2 pieces in the car :-) Magnificent!

ps - I could't resist taking home one pack of Nasi Lemak Bungkus (RM$1) as well, which turned out to be quite excellent too! Sweet style sambal, fragrant rice, but missing kacang putih to make this EVEN more perfect!

Tel: Teh Choon Pin @ +6012 423 6499
Opening hours: 12:00 noon - 6:00pm daily

This is one of the finest goreng pisangs in our country ... located in Penang, along the road that leads from Batu Ferringhi to Rasa Sayang Hotel, and REALLY worth a visit!

I had previously been here two years ago when I was attending Jos and Ric's big day and I am glad I managed to find it again! The goreng pisang is still as good as it was back then ...

What is this ... they have a website on their menu!!?

These guys have a really good and informative website . Here is an excerpt ...
Welcome to the one and only Penang Tanjung Bungah Goreng Pisang Gallery.
We dare to say the ONE and ONLY, and truely we are the ONE and ONLY. We offered the best quality of Goreng Pisang and other deep-fried delicacies that are a favourite savouries of locals and foreigners alike. Check out our station at the old bus station of Tanjung Bungah and we will bring you to the Heaven of Eatery!

Lim Thuan Hin - the legacy-holder of the worthless and valueless "LIM's SECRET RECIPE" that produced the most tantalising and mouth-watering deep-fried snacks around.

Welcome to the Mars Bars of Pearl of the Orient.
Continuing the legacy of their father, Lim Khim Chang, both cousins, Lim Thuan Hin and Teh Choon Pin, have continued the "bananas" business for the past 40 years.
Parked at the side of the Tanjung Bungah road leading to Batu Ferringhi, the van used for the business, operates the business from 12.00am to 6.00pm daily. Both cousins, Lim and Teh attends the operation with the help from the senior Lim occassionally.
The daily affair starts off with the set up of the stall that houses within the van, and all necessary untensils, woks, pots and the "engineering" tools used for the operation is displayed around the stall premise.
So, enjoy the crispy, tantalising and mouth-watering collection of the ONE and ONLY ONE Penang Goreng Pisang in town, here!

Goreng pisang @ USJ2 , Subang

This Goreng Pisang stall is a branch of the excellent SS2 one .. Located on the row behind Restoran Le Kwang (which is very famous for its Penang curry mee - Not tried it yet! Star Guide says its good) @ 1 Jln USJ 2/2C, Subang Jaya. Seems its a branch of the institutional SS2 gorgeng pisang stall
Found the goreng pisang to be excellent, with nice flakey 'loose' batter.
Butthe Lin-Koh is much better at the Imbi road side stall.

Goreng Pisang, Imbi road-side

Imbi area ... Opposite Honda showroom ... Possibly the DEFINITIVE goreng-pisang, but hmmm ... were they having an OFF DAY? Pisang/banana wasn't very sweet, fantastic batter though. The lin-koh was EXCELLENT as always!

Goreng Pisang, stall at SS2

A THIRTY YEAR (yes ... 30!) institution that first started in Taman Megah ... very successful aunties selling goreng everythings. I must have picked an off day as the bananas weren't very sweet, and the lin-koh was only so-so ... but I do hear they are normally VERY GOOD. Shall return ...

Farewell Penang

Goodbye Penang ...
It won't be 20 years before I am next back again, what an island of culinary delights! We couldn't say goodbye to Penang, before having the BEST EVER GORENG PISANG ... en route to the waterfront (Golden Sands / Rasa Sayang hotels). Yum!
