Nasi Kandar Pelita - Supper time with the gang in Klang

Add: Pelita - Bukit Tinggi, Klang @ Lorong Batu Nilam 3C

Talk about creative! This is M's Roti Banjir ;-)

No Indomie goreng at this joint, you will have to make do with Maggi Mi Goreng!

Here's my Nasi Lemak. Surprisingly pedas, many vendors don't "dare" go spicy with their sambal these days... these guys at Pelita are old skool, and dare to! When the 2 lads saw my Nasi Lemak, they had a 2nd supper dish! Heh heh ...

Ah ... I always miss simple and GOOD teh ais back home ;-)

Miss BM had a kepala, oops kelapa ... fresh coconut. All in all, a great evening out ;-) Oops, was it 2am? Morning I mean!

Nasi kandar - Khalifah at Section 3 Shah Alam

We are not the first, but we are the best!
Don't you love Khalifah's motto ;-) So Avis-like!

I love their Nasi kandar ... Curry chicken, Ayam masak merah, some cabbage, telur goreng kicap and rice ... Delicious at RM$10.

My first meal home :-) Mamak time!

First thing I had in Klang when I arrived home ... Pelita mamak :-)

Funny how much one can miss Teh Tarik Ais Kurang Manis ... and Ayam Masak Madu with cabbage and ALL the different varieties of gravy over some white rice. Bliss!

Restoran Khalifah - We are not the first, but we are the best! Shah Alam

Dissapointing lunchy at Khalifah, Section 3 (Shah Alam) ... The "ayam madu" picked by the waiter for me was lacking in meat and flavour, and the teh was weak. Sigh ... Pelita rules the roost now!

ps - Their tagline of "We are not the first, but we are the best!" seems to be mis-guided, considering the quality of the food :-(

Roti Canai Garing - Nasi Kandar de Maju, Damansara Perdana

Location: Damansara Perdana

Sunday papers at the mamak ... bliss!

Was slightly dissapointed that the Roti Canai wasn't "garing" enough!

Soup Ayam at Pelita, Bukit Tinggi - Klang

Located: Bukit Tinggi, Klang @ Lorong Batu Nilam 3C

Took dad out for his fave kind of supper one night ... Sup Ayam aka Chicken Soup ala Mamak! RM$0.70 for some bread, and RM$4.50 for delicious "kao-kao" chicken soup. And we "added extra soup" for an additional RM$2.

I chose my favourite Ayam Masak Kicap with some stir fried cabbage, a Mamak-style "chap fan" or Nasi Kandar ... Only RM$5.70. Deeeelicious!

Roti Canai Garing, opposite Calvary Damansara Perdana

Located: Opposite Pusat Aktiviti Calvary, 20 Jalan PJU 8/5G, Bandar Damansara Perdana. Same row as Public Bank.

Was introduced a few months back to "Roti Canai Garing" ... and I am hooked each Sunday morning ;-) This is simply Roti Canai which is a little fluffier and crispier, its good!

Or one can choose 2 Half Boiled Eggs :-) for breakies too.

Smiling at the RM$5 tab for all these, including a pair of Nescafe Tariks.

Hameediyah Nasi Kandar, Campbell Street @ Penang

Add: 164A Campbell Street, Penang
Tel: +604 261 1095
Opening hours: 10am - 10pm (Sat-Thurs, closed on Fridays)

Celebrating its 101st ... yes, count that, a year over ONE CENTURY, anniversary is this very famous and institutional Southern Indian cuisine restaurant. It serves C's fave nasi kandar in town, and who am I to argue with Penang Lang :-)

Famous dishes here, according to research, includes Chicken Kapitan/Rose, Beef Rendang, Chicken Briyani, Mutton Kurma and Murtabak.

We ate on the 1st floor, which is air-conditioned, and relatively relaxed compared to the hustle and bustle of downstairs! These dishes were all good ...

Especially enjoyed the ayam goreng / fried chicken. Slurp!!

The Rojak Pasembur takes some getting used to, but I enjoyed it. The korma was good, as was the excellent nasi briyani.

One can usually count on good food when one visits ... Pelita in Bukit Tinggi Klang

Sri Melur Jaya - Huge Roti Tisu

Located: Along Lorong Batu Nilam 27A, Bandar Bukit Tinggi 2, Klang

Was taking dad on a food hunt of Bukit Tinggi, and originally wanted to go to the local Pelita at Bukit Tinggi , but ended up stopping here cos' I recognised the restaurant name from my many Air Asia flights . Dissapointment!! The Maggi Mee Goreng Kosong was not very tasty ...

The Teh Tarik Ais Kurang Manis we had to accompany our food was rather bland, and without the 'teh mamak kick'! AND ... to top (Pun intended, this fella was tallll ... or more like, loooonnnnngg!) it all off , the Roti Tisu was overly sweet and somehow lacking in character!

To quote dad, "As big as one of the fish I caught!" ... Hah!

ps - Total bill was RM$9.80 for our 2 drinks, and the noodles + mega roti!

Buharry - Nasi Kandar Bistro, Heritage Row KL

Add: 22-24 , Jalan Doriasamy , Asian Heritage Row (Road alongside Sheraton Imperial Hotel) KL.
Tel: +603 2697 7797

Hmm, never realised there was a 'mamak' along Heritage Row, and was surprised by the quality of the food too. Thanks for the treat, R!

J presenting Nasi Lemak to a first-timer in KL! Pretty decent, sambal wasn't overly hot, and the egg on the top was just beautifully presented and runny. Slurp!

No complaints about the other food too ... Tandoori Chicken, Maggi Mee Goreng (Tasty, great egg on the top, but noodles were slightly soggy) and Maggi Mee Curry.

ps - This was our supper at 03:30am after DJ's amazing birthday bash!

Nasi Kandar @ Pelita, Bukit Tinggi Klang

Add: Bukit Tinggi, Klang

Refreshing teh tarik kurang-manis, and teh o' ais limau ... slurp.

Ask for Roti Empat Segi instead of the box (pun intended!) standard Roti Canai, as the former is made fresh. Gorgeous to have it with Kari Ikan and some Sambal. Delicious!

Maggi Mee Goreng Kosong - Simple and delicious!

Next ... and finally ... the Nasi Kandar with Briyani Rice.

Check out all the good stuff ... Lamb curry (OK), Ayam Masak Madu (Deeeeeeelicious), and really good stir-fried cabbage to complete the Halal Economy Rice / Chap Fan.

This is what makes it special ... the guys tops up the rice with ... combines / fuses together something like 6 different curries, from kurmas, to chicken curry, beef, lamb and fish as well. It works!!
