Fatty Mee Hoon Kueh - Berkeley Gardens, Klang

Add: 19 Lebuh Bangau, Berkeley Gardens, Klang
Other review: Kampungboy-Citygirl does a great review here, and it highlights how this little street in Berkeley Gardens aka Taman Kenari, is also the home of 2 very famous BKT joints!

We really like the mee-hoon kueh here, nice and simple. Its the variety which is hand-pulled :-) Its the variety which is hand-pulled :-) Funny how the aunty-boss here bosses her 3 maids around, with the technique of kneading and pulling the dough!

Fatty Mee Hoon Kuih House - Berkeley Gardens, Klang

This is an institution in Klang, founded nearly 20 years ago in Berkeley Gardens / Taman Kenari. Be prepared for a wait and long queues at rush-hour / lunchtime!

Add: Fatty Mee Hoon Kuih House - 19 Lebuh Bangau, Taman Berkeley, Klang
Opening hours: 10:00am - 11:00pm daily.
Previous review: Check out the delicious Barley-Cincau, slurp!
Directions: Thanks to Masak-Masak ... To get here, use the Federal Highway. After the turn off to Jusco Klang, keep left, if coming from KL, take the first left and you will reach a roundabout. In front of you will be Centro. Take a 3-o clock turn, go straight and continue until you see a shophouse with a restaurant on the left. Take a left and go straight, Fatty Mee Hoon Kuih is on the second row.

The propietor at work himself, slowly pulling away at the pan mee / dough, producing pieces of mee hoon kuih! He offered me a small plate of lard / chee yau char, add it to the broth ... it works!

Magic!

Gotta add an egg ... delicious!

Silky smooth "mee hoon kuih" (aka "pulled" pan mee) and hardly starchy at all .. bravo!

My favourite pan mee, Taman Bukit Maluri - Kepong

Location: Roadside, off Jalan Burung Bebarau, Taman Bukit Maluri. Near Bandar Sri Menjalara in Kepong.
Previous review: Read all about my first visit here recently!

Best kon loh pan mee ... ever!

RM$3.50 (small portion on left), and RM$4 (huge portion on right).
A much needed Barley drink is RM$1 each.

Goes really well with the vege soup ... and of course, make sure you pour the special chilli sauce all over your noodles. Firey and perfect!

ps. Wanted to have "Round Two" at Yip Kee, supposedly the best Wan Tan Mee in Kepong. Alas it was closed. There's always next time ...

Champagne Pan Mee - Dataran Mentari, Sunway

Add: 2 Jalan PJS 8/10 Dataran Mentari Bandar Sunway, PJ
Tel: +6016 3696 130
Located: At the new shoplot opposite Sunway Mentari (opposite Sunway Pyramid). It is directly behind Seven Eleven & the Shell Station. Near lots of buffet steamboat restaurants!

Beware! M-16!!!

Variety of chilli paste! The one on the left was overly sweet, but the propietor told us that many of her regulars actually like it that way ... Hmmm! We did like the "sambal" on the right :-)

Kon Loh Pan Mee (Noodle-type), pretty delicious! Make sure you add the sambal, and voila ... the taste comes alive!

Soup pan mee ("Pull" or kuih variety), I thought this was too bland.
Will stick to Kon Loh in the future!
Found this self-description on the web, at least the restauranteur /propietor is trying her bit to market what is a very popular dish, pan mee!
Since our opening in August '08 in Bandar Sunway, we managed to achieve over 90% customers satisfaction. We have received compliments from customers, telling us that it is one of the best they have ever tasted & they just cannot resist coming back again & again just to taste the pan mee.
What makes our Pan Mee so special ? We made it so close to home cook style, it will bring you fond memories of home & a feeling of satisfaction & sentiments. Our ingredients to go with the pan mee are mushroom, anchovy, minced pork & sayur manis. Our grinded belachan chillie padi is specially prepared to enhance the pan mee for your mouth watering satisfaction. For customers who are chicken rice lovers & have an appetite for rice, you will surely love our tasty steam chicken & flavored rice.
A sumptuous meal will not be complete without having a light dessert to end the meal & a thirst quenching drink for a starter. We serve sweet potatoes, red or green bean soup daily & especially for our customers who have sweet tooth. When you come, ask for our honey logan wintermelon or calamansi sour plum drink. Its only RM1.80 and its simply hmm!

Possibly the best Kon Loh Pan Mee ever ... Taman Bukit Maluri, Kepong

Location: Roadside, off Jalan Burung Bebarau, Taman Bukit Maluri
That's in Kepong-land :-) , near Bandar Sri Menjalara
Other reviews (with more directions!):
Cumi and Ciki
and,
Masak Masak

One cold, rainy evening ... five of us ventured to Kepongland to savour what L describes as the best pan-mee ever, she was right!

Red bean dessert and warm Barley drink - Make sure they put less sugar, it's sweet but v v yummy.

Hmmm ... put LOTS of "special" chilli on, remember to ask the aunt for this, seems it isn't "standard issue"!

HEAVENLY!!
Simply divine ... One of the finest Pan Mee ever, definitely the BEST kon-loh Pan Mee I have ever had. RM$3.50 for "small" portions below, you can also opt for a RM$4 "large" plate.

M agrees :-)

Yong Kee - Traditional & Fusion Pan Mee, Damansara Utama

Add: 7, Jalan SS 21/37, Damansara Uptown / Damansara Utama, PJ
Located: Next door to the mighty Village Park Nasi Lemak.
Hmm, I wonder ... Is the business concept to catch the spill-over crowd from the very VERY busy Village Park?

Traditional Pan Mee - Eeeep, the broth was not very tasty, and there was hardly enough ikan bilis to go along with the noodles. Sigh ... bad start.

Char Choy Pan Mee (Don't know the actual name, but that was what was in it) - Decent, but hardly special.

Yong tau foo - Various varieties, ranged from average to very poor (The fish paste / fish meat in the roll as well as the brinjal tasted so weird, and hardly fish-like! Strange texture...).

Finally, the last straw ... the paper wrapped chicken aka chee pau kai, SO DRY! :-(

Ps. Overall, a poor effort, and I doubt we will ever return. We left feeling both dissapointed and unsatisfied!

Pandamaran - Kon Loh Mee and Curry Pan Mee

Been a while since my last visit to Pandamaran ... here was my Friday dinner meal. Yes, the weekend's finally arrived!

A very simple Kon Loh Mee, which was rather good ... Cintan noodles were used perhaps?

My first Curry Pan Mee ever ... Not bad!

AEON Bukit Tinggi Mall, Klang - Food Court

In general, NONE of the food at the AEON Bukit Tinggi Mall in Klang is good ... :-(
Here are some that I tried weeks ago from the Food Court upstairs ... Pan Mee, Wat Tan Hor, and Chicken Chop. Baahhhhh ....
