In Malay, the name means serene and beauty, and aptly enough, Kota Permai Golf & Country Club has captivated the golfing fraternity with its charm since its opening in early 1998. Set within the 1820-acre township of Kota Kemuning, the Hicom Gamuda developed property continues to impress all who walk its fairways. Undoubtedly, Kota Permai is the jewel in the township's crown and was designed to be very much a part of the local community, a truly family club.

My first round of golf at Kota Permai, and thanks to the flood-lights on the last holes, we managed to finish our round one rainy afternoon. Shot a miserable 58+55, but I will never forget my birdie on the 14th hole, a 131 metre Par 3. I called for a 7 iron, but the caddy said in jest, "Orang tua pun guna 9 iron!". Thus I compromised, hit a well lofted 8 iron, and the ball landed left of the pin, rolled to the right of the pin off the slope, leaving me with a 2 foot putt which I made! Ah... Bliss!

Since the first tee shot was struck in early 1998, Kota Permai Golf and Country Club has been aiming at a single target - to keep striving for excellence and the signs are around us at Kota Permai Golf and Country Club. Such is Kota Permai's succcess that in just four years, the club was voted Malaysia's Number One Golf Course by leading magazine, Golf Malaysia in its 2001/2002 readers' poll. In addition, the club was also voted the Most Memorable Golf Course and bestowed the Most Beautiful Hole award for our par four second hole. History repeats itself when Kota Permai returned to the pinnacle amongst Malaysian golf courses for being voted again as the Country's Best Golf Course along with the Most Memorable Golf Course and Most Scenic Hole award (Hole No.2) at the recent Golf Malaysia's readers' poll 2005/2006.
