MTV Asia Awards 2008, Genting - Karen Mok

Karen Mok gets a well deserved Inspiration Award from the MTV Asia Awards, as presented by her co-emcee for the night, Jared Leto.

She received this award for her many achievements and showcasing Asia across the world, as well as her humanitarian efforts.

The show ended ... and at 9:37pm , we went back to Hotel Genting.

As GC and me were leaving at 10:25pm , we met face to face with Karen Mok ... haha, what luck!

Some final notes from the MTV Asia Awards 2008 ...
Playing host alongside Hong Kong actress/singer Karen Mok was Hollywood heartthrob and rock star Jared Leto, frontman for US rock band 30 Seconds To Mars.
His acting resume includes Panic Room, Fight Club and Requiem For A Dream.

Held at the 6,000-capacity Arena of Stars, the regional awards show saw thrilling live performances with lively guest presenter appearances from an international cast, such as Jabbawockeez, Leona Lewis, OneRepublic, The Click Five, The Pussycat Dolls, The Script (a new pop sensation from Ireland), ably backed by our very own stars Pop Shuvit, Jaclyn Victor and Joe Flizzow.

US rockers Panic At The Disco brought the proceedings to a close with a flourish, performing two of their biggest hits - I Write Sins Not Tragedies and Nine In The Afternoon, with the latter delivered complete with a local marching band, flamenco dancers and a gymnastic team.

A sought-after personality, Mok is an accomplished actress and singer who has enjoyed phenomenal success in Asia since making her debut in 1993.

In 2003, Mok created waves in the music scene when she was crowned Best Female Singer in Taiwan’s prestigious Golden Melody Awards (the equivalent of the Grammy Awards in the Mandarin music market). In 2005, she made history by being the first Asian star to take on the lead role in the Broadway hit musical Rent on its 10th anniversary world tour of Asia.

The MTV Asia Awards 2008 will be broadcast to over 291 million homes across the region, and promoted on MTV Asia’s website. The award show promotions will be carried on MTV channels worldwide, reaching more than a billion viewers across 162 countries. MTV Asia Awards 2008 will be aired on Malaysia’s Astro Channel 713 on Aug 2 at 11pm with repeats on the same channel at Aug 3 (11am and 8pm).
