Sex and the City : The Movie (2008)

Source: DVD (SS2)
Not sure if this film will ever end up in our shores, and if it does it would be 'very much cut cut cut' anyways ... so I enjoyed a boot-leg copy. Fabulous film!! Big THUMBS UP from us :-)

Here are the gals ... needing no introduction, but here you go anyway!

Sarah Jessica Parker ... Carrie Bradshaw
Kim Cattrall ... Samantha Jones
Kristin Davis ... Charlotte York
Cynthia Nixon ... Miranda Hobbes

The casting is brilliant on tele, as it is in the movie, and the 'extras' include ...
Chris Noth ... John James 'Mr. Big' Preston
Jennifer Hudson ... Louise
David Eigenberg ... Steve Brady
Evan Handler ... Harry Goldenblatt

The series, as is the movie was written by Michael Patrick King, and is based upon a book by Candace Bushnell.

What's the movie all about? It picks up from after the tele series, but there are plenty of flashbacks and references to help those (I don't think there are many!) who didn't follow the TV series to understand what's going on!

Basically ... Carrie Bradshaw and Mr. Big make a rather rushed decision to tie the knot, in fabulous New York City. The wedding guest list quickly expands from the 70s to over 200 guests, and Carrie's simple wedding gown quickly transforms to something much ... muchhh more elaborate! The chosen location? The New York Public Library, which means it would practically be a public affair!

Some notes from imdb.com
A quick introduction to Carrie's girlfriends - Samantha, the sexpot ; Charlotte, the sweet naïf; and Miranda, the rigid perfectionist--could not be happier. At least, they couldn't be happier for Carrie.

Charlotte still has the unrealized hope of getting pregnant. Samantha is finding a loving, committed relationship more grueling than she could have imagined. Miranda unwittingly lets her own unhappiness--created when Steve admits to cheating on her just once--spoil Carrie's. After a heated encounter with Steve, she happens to spot Mr. Big and tells him he's crazy to get married. She's really only thinking of her own marriage. But her angry remark gets Mr. Big to thinking! Hmmm ... I shall leave you to watch the rest of the film!

And here's some pics from The Scene ! Check out the number of passer-bys who stopped by to look :-)

Finally ... some incredible quotes from this remarkable film:-

Carrie Bradshaw: And we were dressed from head to toe in love... the only label that never goes out of style.

Miranda Hobbes: [at a bar, drinking Cosmopolitans] Why did we ever stop drinking these? Carrie Bradshaw: Because everyone else started!

Carrie Bradshaw: Women come to New York for the two L's: Labels and Love.

Carrie Bradshaw: Some love stories aren't epic novels, some are short stories Carrie Bradshaw: But, that doesn't make them any less filled with love.

Mr. Big: "Ever Thine, Ever Mine, Ever Ours."
I loved this! What's it all about? It is actually a letter made out by Ludwig van Beethoven and it is called Immortal Beloved. This is a letter to the one he will always love, his soulmate. His heart will be true to her ... and only he will love her always.
