The Macallan 12 v 18 - Highland single malt Whisky comparison!

One weekend tea-time, we had a brain-wave ... could we tell the difference between Macallan 12 and Macallan 18?

Price comparison: The "18 year" vintage costs about 150% more then the "12 year". For example, KLIA (KL Airport duty-free) would currently retail the "12 year" at RM$190.
Colour: Experts describe the "18" as much darker, but I noticed they were of a rather similar amber-shade
Nose: The "18" has a clearly more powerful scent to it ... a hint of the magic to come!
Taste: Simply marvellous, we could both clearly tell that the "18" is more powerful, flavoursome and best of all ... clearly SMOOTHER then the "12". Taking a slow drink, it is so easy to enjoy the "18" though I have to say the "12" is the king of "12 year whiskies", when compared with other brands like Famous Grouse, Glenmorangie etc. When I "downed" the "18" rapidly, it still left no trace of "burning" on the throat... Marvellous!

Wikipedia on Macallan ... The Macallan is a single malt Scotch whisky, produced at Macallan Distillery near Easter Elchies House, at Craigellachie in the Speyside region. Originally, The Macallan was only matured in oak sherry casks brought to the distillery from Jerez, Spain.
