Happy Mother's Day @ Shanghai, JW Marriott (Starhill KL)

Happy Mother's Day!!
Stan and myself too mum and dad into the heart of KL for timsum brunch at the JW Marriott ...

We were slightly confused by the lift ... hmmm, why didn't they just label the floors 1, 2, 3 etc?

Here is a review of my first visit to this restaurant.
Add: Shanghai Restaurant @ JW Marriott (Starhill Gallery)

Cheng Kong Ham, serve chilled (RM$12 - small portion).
Hmm, tasted better the 1st time I went 9 months ago!

Stir fried Yam Cake (RM$9) - Average. At least the beansprouts were very crunchy.

R/Bridge Biscuit (RM$15) - Duh, what is R/Bridge? Anyway, it was good! Tasty :-)

Char Siew Cheong Fun (RM$10) - Enjoyed this a lot. Slurp!

Crispy Beancurd (RM$8) - Good.

Shrimp Roll (RM$12) - Good, but hardly spectacular.

Siew Mai (RM$10) - Good.

Lotus Leaf Rice (RM$9)

A special dish for the day ... Rice Wine Chicken (RM$48 - ouch!). Thought this was rather decent, good firm but smooth texture to the chicken, but my family thought it was only average.

Har Kao / Prawn dumpling (RM$10) - Good, but not special.

Steamed Shanghai Dumpling aka Xiao Long Bao (RM$3 each x 10 = RM$30).
Sigh ... this was meant to be the signature dish of this previously fine establishment, but it was the superior stock inside was a tad too salty, and as you can see from the photo below, it was next to impossible to handle the little fellas. The soup poured out of just about every one! How dissapointing ...

Mango Pomelo Sago (RM$12) - I liked this!

Chrysanthemum (Kuk-Poh) tea came up to RM$3 a person, or RM$12 for the four of us.
In total, the bill came up to RM$226.

Now comes the part when I describe the BAD SERVICE ...
1) Service was soooooooooo slow (For example, when we asked for ice, chilli-oil, AND the bill as well)
2) I do not understand why this restaurant cannot take firm reservations, especially when they called me up half an hour before my 'allocated' time. When we arrived, we waited 25 minutes for a table (and I did notice a family who came AFTER us, getting a seat before us).
3) It does not matter that was Mother's Day, a premium priced restaurant such as this needs to improve its service and systems to not upset the customers.
Manager or YTL team - If you are reading this, I did inform the 'Captain' that I was truly dissapointed, and would strongly consider NOT returning to your establishment.

Hi, I did no try this restraunt, but my wife and i went to the upper floor Gombei japanese ( same floor as jogoya )restraunt on this year's V day, we were sorely dissappointed with the service, right from the moment we sat down till the billing time, everything was so slow!!!. Food was ok .I did complain to the waitress. We wont be returning to this restraunt. Too bad for an upper class rest but with such low quality service
