Two varieties of Goreng Pisang - Superb!

Yanna's at it in the kitchen again ... this time it is Goreng Pisang, from Ipoh as well as Klang bananas.

Superb home-made goreng pisang, hot off the wok!

Dad agrees ... yummy!

And finally ... some local pineapple (RM$1.20 only). So sweeeeet!

Simple fried mee hoon with Curried Vegetables

Yanna and mum prepared a fabulous but simple home cooked meal this evening ... Here are how the dishes transform from the kitchen into the dining room :-)

Fried Chicken - Magnificent, juicy but tasty

Curried vegetables - Best bar none! That's how good the fish-head stock is, so sweet and aromatic.
Fried mee-hoon with Peking Cabbage and Carrots - An amazing noodle dish.

Two hundred posts per month!

Ah hah ... another MILESTONE!
My first month with 200 posts ... thanks for keeping up with my ... uh, stomach!? :-)

Hainanese Taste (Tien Pin) - Mee Pok @ SS2

Add: Restoran Hainanese Taste (Also known as Tien Pin) - No.19, Jalan SS2/30, PJ
Directions: Row of shops behind Sri Siam or Eng Seng Hin Electronics, between SS2 and Sea Park

Ever had the sense of deja vu?
The moment I stepped into these kopitiam, I felt I had been here before ... Ah hah! It is under the same ownership as House of Fishball at Seapark, PJ

This accompanied the noodles ... springy fishballs, and lovely fishcakes in a nice clear vegetable soup.

This was what brought me here ... The Mee Pok (RM$5)!
Alas I was slightly dissapointed as I had thought it would be the Singapore variety, with a combination of sweet (ketchup) and spicy (chilli-sauce). Nevertheless, after I got over the dissapointment, it was good. Nice springy noodles!

This I thought was quite superb ... RM$1.80 for Fu Chuk Yee Mai (Beancurd skin boiled with Barley), alas it wasn't hot enough.

Ps - RM$6.80 for a wholesome lunch? Can't go wrong with that!

Pps - Couple of other good write-ups on this place...
Story of the founder Mr Michael Tang
The recommendation that brought me here in the first place!

Suzuki Aerio or Liana

Before the cool looking Suzuki SX-4 came along, there was the Liana ... or in this case, the rare specimen I saw wore the Aerio badge. Saw this guy in SS2, PJ ...

Wikipedia
The Suzuki Aerio (called the Liana in Europe, South Asia and Australia) is a compact car built by Suzuki Motor Corporation.
It was introduced in 2001 as a replacement for the Suzuki Esteem/Baleno, with a tall 5-door hatchback (for maximum inner room efficiency) and a 4-door sedan body.
It featured two different 16-valve gasoline engines, with 1.5 L and 1.8 L, this one capable of 125 PS JIS (92 kW).
Only the Aerio sedan remained for 2007, as the hatchback had been shelved to make room for the new 2007 SX4 hatchback. Likewise, the Aerio sedan bowed out at year's end, making way for the 2008 SX4 Sport sedan. Throughout its run, the Aerio was distinct for being the most affordable car in America to offer all-wheel-drive.
In Europe, where the car is called Liana (an acronym for "Life In A New Age"), it's seen as a more affordable alternative to small family cars or to mini MPVs, introducing a new generation of Suzuki M engines, with 1.3 L and 1.6 L engine. All wheel drive is available on the bigger engine.
The Liana is best known for its appearances in the BBC's Top Gear's Star in a Reasonably-Priced Car segment, as the sedan model was used from its first show until the model's replacement by a Chevrolet Lacetti in the show's spring 2006 season.

Mitsubishi Triton

A truly modern looking pick-up truck :-) I like the Mitsubishi Triton!

The rear bay comes covered with a liner.

Specificataion details of the Triton

Nasi Lemak Tanglin, near Lake Gardens @ KL

Saturday mornings are special ... its time to go hunting for obscure eating places! Thanks to H for being patient enough to locate this place, hmmm don't think I've been here before.
Anyway, early one Saturday morning. we drove into KL, near Bukit Aman / Lake Gardens.

Add: Stall Number 6, Kompleks Makan Tanglin @ Jalan Cendarasari, KL
Directions: From Jalan Parlimen, turn right into Lake Gardens.
Follow the signboard to Taman Rama Rama (Butterfly Park).
When you see the Park on your right, turn right into Jalan Cendarasari.

I was surprised by the length of the queue, which moved along quite briskly, as the helpers at Nasi Lemak Tanglin were obviously very well experienced and trained in hurrying people along in a friendly manner, asking what lauk was required ... choices included egg with sambal, fried or boiled, different meats including chicken, beef, fish, squid (sotong) as well as 'spare parts' such as paru (lung!), etc.

Perhaps they also do banquetting, I noticed a van at the rear, which also houses a tent with another 20 or so tables!

It was finally my turn ... slurrrrrp! That's BERGEDIL the guy is picking up for me, which is like a vegetarian patty. So delicious!

What does RM$13 buy you in Malaysia these days?
Two plates of some of the FINEST nasi lemak anywhere ... :-) Delicious rice, excellent (and not so spicy, but also not overly sweet) sambal, and beautiful lauk - chicken, beef, and sotong too!

The other plate ...

Only downside of the meal? The weak and bland drinks ... the Teh Ais and Milo kosong were both poor.

Lavender Bistro, AEON Bukit Tinggi Klang

Been to Lavender Bakery at AEON Bukit Tinggi Shopping Centre in Klang many a time, but never took the chance to eat-in before. This was my first time!
Add: Lavender Bistro @ Lot G18, Ground Floor, AEON Bukit Tinggi Shopping Centre, Klang
Tel: +603 3326 2793

Very tastefully decorated restaurant located behind the bakery section ... I was surprised by how many items there were on the menu!

Seafood Tomato Soup (RM$6.90) - Great value, even comes with 2 slices of garlic bread. Very VERY delicious!

Teriyaki Chicken Rice (RM$11.90) set - Comes with a choice of drink, I chose the Iced Lemon Tea. On first bite, rather boring, but the flavour soon sinks in. Tender and juicy pieces of chicken fillet, and that teriyaki sauce goes so well with rice. Bits of sliced omelette over the top.

Lavender salad (RM$9.90) - Fresh veges, and slices of mangoes, with an interesting white sauce which isn't mayonaise (hint of lime?). Rather good too!

Total bill for two? RM$39. Good food, nice restaurant, good service, I think we have a winner here!

Ps. There are tonnes of other dishes which I will definitely come back to 'try' one day soon!

Yanna's Pak Kor Yee Mai (Barley & Ginko)

Nothing beats a simple home cooked meal!

Espesh when dessert is ... Pak Kor Yee Mai (Ginko nut and Barley, with Fu Chuk from Ipoh!). Simply marvelous!

Restoran Stadium Negara - Legendary steamboat, KL

I've been meaning to come here for years ... finally made it!
Add: 2 Persiaran Lidol off Jalan Yap Kwan Seng, KL
Tel: +603 2161 8557
Opening hours: 6pm - 1am

Check out how BIG the tea-pot is, filled with aromatic Chrysanthemum leaves (no sugar of course). RM$4.

What a great start ... Chicken Wings, that give Jalan Alor's Wong Ah Wah a run for its money! RM$2.20 per piece, we had 2 pieces. Juicy, tasty, but not overly powerful in marinade. Great balance!

Signature La La - A MUST HAVE!! RM$15
Stir fried in the most amazing garlic and chilli-padi sauce, simply amazing. So tasty!!

Sweet and sour crabs (RM$52) - Deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelicious! Not the usual style which has too much ketchup and is overpowering. This is a milder version, which lets you taste the freshness of the crabs, which were VERY FRESH and naturally juicy/sweet too. Fabulous!
Oh, the Steamed Buns / Man Tao that accompanies it is deeeeeeeelish too, RM$1.20 per piece.

Time for the STEAMBOAT!
Charcoal style - Sure brings back memories of the old days. Takes a little longer to boil, but when the side dishes were so good, we didn't complaint!

We opted for the Ying-yang version aka both Soup and Tom-yum.
Hmm ... When we first started, the Tom-yum tasted a wee bit 'funny' and herbally, but after a while, as the meats and veges flavours sink in, it becomes so flavoursome and delicious! BRAVO!

Not sure how much it cost for the steamboat though, they forgot to charge us for it!
Special mention ... Excellent service, friendly staff who are obviously very proud of where they work, this place is a REAL institution! 40+ years in the business?

Ps. Views of KL city centre as I was driving to Yap Kwan Seng ... Petronas Twin Towers and Public Bank building.

And, you get a view of the rather majestic AmBank building as you enjoy your crabs and steamboat too!

Pps . History lesson from rasarasa.net
STADIUM NEGARA had a restaurant from 1965 that was the envy of many -- a famous location ample parking (except for night when badminton, basketball, table tennis or other sport events takes precedent).
Sometime in 2003, it was asked to move.
Thus, it relocated to a bungalow along Jalan Yap Kwan Seng but maintained the name Stadium Negara Restaurant. It serves the same food (such as charcoal steamboat and hopes its old clientele will return)
Specialities:
Charcoal steamboat with two types of soup (chicken soup or tomyam soup) served with a variety of ingredients
BBQ Sri Lankan crabs
Grilled chicken wings
Seafood (crabs, prawns and squid) cooked in different styles

Lavender Bakery @ AEON Bukit Tinggi Klang

Add: Lot G18 on the Ground Floor, AEON Bukit Tinggi Shopping Centre, Klang
Tel: +603 3326 2794

A nice looking bakery that always seems to have a queue of people getting various bits of cakes and bakery items :-) There's also a cafe/restaurant in the back, which I would like to try one day soon!

Chicken curry bun (RM$2.20) - Very yummy. The pandan leaf wrapping lends a distinctive aroma to the soft bun.
Chicken sausage boni (RM$2.20) - Good, but I am not a big fan of the flakes sprinkled on the top. Again, the bun is yummy.

Look! Taking photos does pay :-)
Prize? A box of golf balls!

Ps. Originally saw this sign at the Monterez golf club in Shah Alam

Honda Accord - Full body kit

This caught my eye in Klang today ...

Rather impressive twin exhaust pipes + rims + bodykit combo ... This is of course a previous shape Honda Accord 2.0.

Chicken Rice Shop @ AEON Bukit Tinggi, Klang

Add: TCRS (The Chicken Rice Shop) @ F06, 1st Floor, AEON Bukit Tinggi Shopping Centre, 1 Persiaran Batu Nilam 1/KS6, Bandar Bukit Tinggi 2, Klang.
Tel: +603 3326 2780

Had a weird craving the past 2 days ... The Chicken Rice Shop. So I succumbed to temptation, and went to my local AEON Bukit Tinggi mall, to indulge :-)

Ordered the Single Chicken Set ... Steamed chicken and rice, which was really just average. I liked the gravy, but there were only drops of it!

It came with (again, average!) Bean Sprouts as well as supremely delicious Pai Tee. Slurp!

And, a really non-descript and less then average Rainbow Delight dessert. Sort of like a jelly. Meal also comes with a soft drink, but I opted for a cuppa hot chinese tea instead.

The damage? RM$10.90 +service +tax ... RM$12.

Will I be returning? Not for chicken rice ... perhaps for the yummy pai tee!

Is it a tree? Is it a mobile phone mast?

Is that a tree in the distance, just before the bridge that crosses the Klang River near North Port, in Port Klang?

Lets take a closer look ...

It's a ... mobile phone mast!

Rude signboard at Port Klang

Is this signboard for real!?

Ps. Spotted in Port Klang ... Hee hee!

Solaris a new residential-commercial mixed development, at the far end of Mont' Kiara is starting to pick up steam ... Cold Storage is now opened (a month now), and there is even a Haagen-Dazs cafe here!
Add: Solaris Mont' Kiara, Off Jalan Duta Kiara, KL

Best waffles in town! - Tastes fantastic, texture is brilliant, and the accompanying scoops of strawberry and rum and rasin heavenly! (RM$29.90 - pricey, but o so amazing!)

Crepe with single scoop of incredible Coffee ice-cream (RM$7.90 + $13.90).
H only found the crepe average, I agree! Tasted bland ... sigh.

Hey cool! Note the bill, which basically helps split the bill whilst in a group :-) How convenient!

Volvo S60 2.0T (2003) - For Sale

Friend of mine is selling his wheels ... Volvo S60 2.0T (Automatic).
Seems like great value, still drives nice (I had to take it for a quick test drive in Mont Kiara before doing this write-up!), and the seats are mega comfortable as in all Volvos! Hmm, I'd upgrade them 16" alloys though, at least 18"s I reckon!
Mileage: 85,000 plus kilometres
Price: If interested, let me know!

The interior - Fully kitted out!

Wikipedia
The S60 marked a clean break for Volvo from the boxy design that many stereotyped the brand with in 1980s and 90s. Its design by Peter Horbury built upon the styling of the S80 and was the most marked departure from traditional Volvo styling since Horbury joined the firm in 1992. Accordingly, Volvo marketed the car as heralding a “Revolvolution.”
It was built upon Volvo’s P2 platform, which was shared with three other Volvo models: the S80, the V70 and the XC90.
The S60 was refreshed in 2005. The exterior was updated with body-colored side moldings and bumpers, as well as new headlamps.

Taiwanese noodle kon loh with Pork Chop - Slurp!

Taiwanese spicy soup noodles, with Pork Chop - Brilliant! (RM$7)

Pai Kuat Wong - Aka Sweet and Sour Pork Chop.
Amazing! Loved the gravy, loved the pork. Can't wait to come back for more..

Ps. Rather pricey at RM$35 for all the above, but you get what you pay for - An excellent meal!

RHB has a new logo

As I was driving pass SS2, in PJ, I noticed RHB Bank has a new 'funkier' logo.

Lamborghini Countach @ NKVE

I am so impressed by Stan's 5 megapixel Nokia N95 camera-phone!

Wow, lucky Stan ... he managed to see one of a total of 2,042 Countach's every built!

Wikipedia on this classic ...
The Lamborghini Countach was a mid-engined sports car produced by Italian automaker Lamborghini from 1974 to 1990.
The design of the Countach popularized, but did not pioneer, the wedge-shaped, sharply angled look popular in many high performance supercars. The "cabin-forward" design concept, which pushes the passenger compartment forward in order to accommodate a larger engine, was also popularized by the Countach.
The word countach (Pronounced kun-taj) is an exclamation of astonishment in the local Piedmontese language - generally used by men on seeing an extremely beautiful woman. While the term is often considered untranslatable into English, it is essentially equivalent to the British lager lout verbalization "Fwwaaaa", or it can also be considered the verbal equivalent of a Wolf Whistle.

The Countach name stuck when Nuccio Bertone first saw "Project 112" in his studio. The prototype was introduced to the world at the 1971 Geneva Motor Show. Most previous Lamborghini car names were associated with bulls and bullfighting.

In 2004, Sports Car International named this car number three on the list of Top Sports Cars of the 1970s, and it was listed as number ten on their list of Top Sports Cars of the 1980s. The Countach has been discontinued for 18 years and still enjoys a massive fan appreciation.

The Countach was styled by Marcello Gandini of the Bertone design studio, the same designer and studio that designed the Miura. Gandini was then a young, inexperienced designer—not very experienced in the practical, ergonomic aspects of automobile design, but at the same time unhindered by them. He produced a quite striking design. The Countach shape was wide and low (42.1 inches), but not very long. Its angular and wedge-shaped body was made almost entirely of flat, trapezoidal panels. There were curves, notably the smoothly coke-bottle wing line, but the overall appearance was sharp.

Hartamas Square - Good hawker food!

Add: Jalan 23/70A, Desa Sri Hartamas, KL
Tel: +603 6201 9972
This was my first visit to this place! Its located opposite the Hartamas Square, which includes such fine eateries like:-
Darabif burger joint
Bonjuk Korean porridge

Nice 'fresh' juices, the huge and refreshing orange juice you see below only cost RM$6.50.

Best item!? Pizza Brava and its wood fired oven pizzas. Delicious!

Here's how to eat a pizza with chopsticks!

Sambal prawns with rice - Spicy but rather tasty. J'ma and L liked it.

Rojak - Pretty good.

Popiah - Deeeeelicious!

Satay (chicken) - Could have been better if the peanut gravy/kuah was thicker. Nevertheless, tasty! RM$6 for 10 sticks.

Chicken Golden Blue (actually meant to be Chicken Cordon Bleu - Haha, local spelling) - Not bad, but I didn't quite like the cheese. Plain ol' chicken chop for me next time!

Kam heong La Lah - Average.

Finally ... a delicious Ice Cream and Waffle combo to end our meal. Yummmmy!

Hyundai Azera TG 3.3

Launched in January 2006, here in Malaysia, here's a description of this rather rare car! Saw this specimen in Mont Kiara :-)

Hyundai.com.my
The European-styled Hyundai Azera TG 3.3 is the flagship of the Hyundai stable.
Its graceful lines match the good aerodynamics for that pleasant look from any angle. The large passenger compartment complete with all the amenities expected of a luxury class car ensures total comfort for all the occupants. Among its long list of features is the all-new 3.3-litre aluminium alloy V6 engine that is both economical and powerful.
The use of a continuously variable valve timing (CVVT), multi-point fuel injection system and a Variable Intake System (VIS) are some of the contributions of the new engine’s versatility. Safety features of the NCAP 5-star rated sedan includes eight airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESP), 4-wheel disc brakes and a very strong passenger compartment. The basic car price for the fully imported Hyundai Azera TG 3.3 is RM220,000.

Sumo Kaya and Peanut Butter Waffle, Bukit Tinggi Mall @ Klang

Tel: +603 3326 2691

Bar-B-Q Plaza is a Thai chain serving an interesting variety of grill-steamboat-fusion cuisine! Went to the one in AEON Bukit Tinggi Mall, in Klang.

We ordered ...
Sirloin beef - RM$5.50
Bacon - RM$6.50
Salmon - RM$7.90
Pork - RM$4.90
Enoki mushroom - RM$5.90
Pumpkin - RM$2.50
Fish fillet - RM$6.00

Seems the SAUCE is imported in weekly from Thailand, it is yummy especially when mixed with chilli padi and garlic, as well as some squeezed lime.
UPDATE! I must have been doing this blog in my sleep last night, I spelt 'sauce' ... " source " . How embarassing! Yes, I do like the sauce ... It is tasty to dip everything in it! The meats are not marinated, so they really simply cook in their own juices and a bit of lard.

Cooking begins!

By the end, the soup is actually very tasty.

Our side dishes ... average tasting Spring Rolls. (RM$6)

Very yummy, Fried Rice with Bacon rolls. (RM$7.50)

Hot green tea was RM$2.50 each , bringing the total up to RM$65.

The Bar-B-Q Dragon, hi big guy!

Correction @ 7.55am on Tuesday 27th May 2008
Ps . APOLOGIES! This place certainly ain't halal!

Sri Melur Jaya @ Shah Alam

Mee hoon goreng - Vegetarian, and proud of it. Not oiley, beautifully fried. Goes great with this 'fake' maggi sauce!

Roti empat segi (Empat segi = 4 corners, i.e. a square!) - Delicious with fish curry.

Cool baby!

Cool or what!

Indiana Jones & The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008)

Cinema: Golden Screen (GSC) at Mid Valley
Event: HwangDBS Investment Management Family

Directed by Steven Speilberg, and written by George Lucas (and Jeff Nathanson), AND starring Harrison Ford. Nuff said!? :-) Also features Cate Blanchett as Irina Spalko, Karen Allen as Marion Ravenwood, Shia LaBeouf as Mutt Williams and John Hurt as Professor 'Ox' Oxley.

I was really excited about this film as it was my FIRST Indiana Jones film which I have ever enjoyed in the cinema, in the first 3 pieces of the saga, I had watched it on television, video-tape (Yes, VHS!), and laser-disc (Nope, NOT DVD, but the older laser-disc format!) ... First, I have to say how NICE the seats are at the GSC in Mid Valley. Probably my favourite cinema in town at the moment!

This also happened to be Baby J's first trip to the cinema :-) Thanks again to Dau for taking us to the pictures!

It has been 19 years since the appearance of this much-loved archeologist-cum adventurer aka Indiana Jones ! I can still get the sense of nostalgia and feel of the old Indy films, but it has been updated beautifully in terms of production values and special effects, without losing the charm. The cheesy-factor has also been kept to 'just enough' quantities, such as the use of Indy's world-famous and much-recognised hat, as well as his whip, and the one-liners are just enough.

Overall... highly entertaining!

Cool quotes?
Mac: This ain't gonna be easy.
Indiana Jones: Not as easy as it used to be.
AND,
Mutt Williams: You're a *teacher*?
Indiana Jones: Part time.

Originally from Singapore, I never knew there was a branch outside of the Damansara Uptown unit which I frequent. We had our pre-Indy Jones breakfast here, gobbled it all down as we only had 20 mins before showtime!

Michy's kaya toast ... didn't look spectacular!

I always have the Singapore style Mee Siam here, reasonably tasty!

D had the laksa, didn't seem to complaint!

Ye's Mee Rebus, with all the chilli bits removed! Thanks for the treat, bro :-)

I really didn't like this F&N Seasons Barley, eeeep tasted like dishwashing liquid (not that I would know what that tastes like!). Baby J didn't seem to complaint though!

Peugeot 407 - Rear view

The Peugeot 407 was launched years ago (In the UK, that was way back in 2004!), but still remains to look fresh, with its well penned lines. I especially like the rump ...

ps - There's even a CKD version now, which doesn't cost a lot more then the 'one-class-lower' Honda Civic and Toyota Altis.

Happy Birthday Wen Wey @ SLHF Ipoh!

Steamed fish

Yin Yang prawns - Salt baked, and soya sauce.

A really good 'finish' ... Long life noodles. Slurp!

Kafe Happy Valley, near Old Town, Ipoh Padang

Kafe Happy Valley is an Old Town style Kopi tiam located opposite the famed Ipoh Padang.

Curry chicken in a bread bowl. Jack describes this as a novelty, but we actually found it rather yummy. There is no real way to 'courteously' eat the bowl though, heh heh.. but I chomped it all anyway!

Kaya toast was decent, nicely toasted bread.

Ps. Strange way of spelling 'Hokkien'!

Humble Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) building, Ipoh

I think this is the PKR base in Ipoh!

Ipoh Padang and Flyovers

Drove to Ipoh over the weekend, and was impressed by this new McDonalds 'Drive-thru' as you enter the city.

Ipoh's fly-over!

It was the first day of the School Holidays, and there were many families and individuals playing at the famous Ipoh Padang. Hmm, that's St Michaels Institution in the distance. Vaguely remember staying there one time, many yonks ago, for a Prefect (!) camp.

Heh heh, how could we resist not having some of Ipoh's coffee!

ps - Some research of Ipoh ...

The city of Ipoh is located about 200 km north of Kuala Lumpur. Journey through the North South Expressway (NSE or PLUS Highway) takes a breezy 2 1/2 hours through scenic rolling valleys, palm oil plantations and limestone hills of Peninsula Malaysia. Distances from other major cities: Penang (2 hours), Johor Bharu (6 hours), Singapore (6 1/2 hours) and Kuantan (5 hours).
Ipoh Field (Padang) is encircled by four streets - Jalan Sultan Idris Shah, Jalan Kelab (Club Road), Station Road and Jalan Sultan Yusuf.
Years ago, British men were seen wearing whites on the field, hitting a wicket or two (in the game of cricket, for the uninitiated). Some were then seen heading back to the exclusive Ipoh Royal Club adjacent to the padang, where the rules of "white men only" still applied.
Today, it is more of an exquisite playground for the rich and poor, brown or white. The British has long gone, taking away the rules with them. Ipoh Padang is a testimony of a common playing field that has withstood the test of time and prejudice, almost as old as the massive casuarina trees (pokok rhu) that dot parts of its periphery. It is today that the old town area surrounding the padang seems to be revitalised with a new lease of life. Some of the most intricately designed edifices in Ipoh old town reside here.
Today, citizens from all walks of life congregate at Ipoh Field for sporting activities, be it a round of rugby practice with friends and colleagues, football training or the good old jogging across the beautiful landscape.

The historic sights are aplenty, such as the FMS (Federated Malay States) Bar and Restaurant (1906) which used to be frequented by merchants and traders, the massive St Michael Institution (1912) with its proud Neo-Gothic architecture as the La Salle missionaries intended it to be, the India Muslim Mosque (1908) built by Sheikh Adam of South India, the old Hong Kong & Shanghai building (1931) which interestingly still hosts its so-called grand children under the HSBC Bank brand name, the colonial-themed Ipoh Court House (Mahkamah Tingi Ipoh) perched on a slope next to the Tudor-styled Royal Ipoh Club and a beautiful row of pre-war shophouses that has since been repainted and refurbished into fancy eating joints that come alive at night.

Salted fish kailan (Loved the gravy!)

Along with 2 white rice, 2 glasses of warm water, and 1 ice lemon tea, the meal came up to about RM$45 (HSBC 10% discount on offer). Nothing to shout about, the convenience of eating at the mall is good, but somehow left feeling a wee bit dissapointed ...

Time for the signature dish ... The noodles were rather much PERFECT. Al dente to the bite, and flavoursome without being overpowering. The char-siew was OK, but the wan-tan blew us away. Hmm, so much flavour!

Green chilli was well pickled as well, slurp. Good accompaniment!

The soup variety was not as flavoursome as the traditional konloh version I reckon ...

ps - Check out the PRICE LIST. Chicken legs aka 'Fung chow' ... hmm, one pair? I guess they sell it in pairs, cos' you have to have left leg and right leg!!
Pps. Nice write up from TimeOutKL.com
When college student Goh Wee Peng first tasted Restoran K Intan’s wonton mee it was love at first bite. After a few twists of fate and months of apprenticeship to the shop’s elderly owner and noodle shifu (master), the young Muar native and his wife Tan Chu San are serving up the very same noodles that sustained them through their student days.
Wonton mee are a dime a dozen in the Klang Valley, so it’s worth mentioning that Goh makes his noodles in-house and without preservatives, to the shifu’s specifications. Lots of egg yolks and minimal bicarbonate of soda result in skinny noodles that attain the ever elusive ‘Q’, a term used by mee connoisseurs to describe a perfect balance of tenderness and elasticity.
Freshness is assured; several times a day Goh disappears into a flour-dusted room off the humble shop’s kitchen to whip up a new batch.
But wonton mee cannot be judged by noodles alone. Happily Goh’s char siew (barbecued pork), tender and sporting a beautiful mahogany glaze, sweet-sticky bits of char, and just enough fat, is worthy of its place atop a bed of his mee. Crackly-skinned, five spice-scented siew yoke (roasted pork) is good enough to eat on its own, and the delicate wonton served in a light broth are bursting with porcine goodness.
Tan supplements the specialty of the house with recipes from her family’s repertoire. Earthy soy-stewed black mushrooms and knobby chicken feet (the latter an acquired taste, for some) can be ordered on their own or to top noodles. Her fine siu gao (boiled dumplings), with their translucent but substantial wrappers stuffed to near bursting with minced pork and crunchy water chestnuts are especially delicious eaten with their chili-vinegar sauce accompaniment.
In the evenings Goh and Tan add bak kut teh to the menu. Given their respective skills in the kitchen, it’s bound to be a stunner. But I, for one, can’t imagine a visit to Restoran K Intan that doesn’t revolve around a plate of those noodles.

One of the ones I brought home for my folks! RM$9.99, so sweet, full of flavour, and doesn't bite the tongue. Bravo!

Ps . Wikipedia even has an entry about Dole!
Dole was founded in 1851 in Hawaii as Hawaiian Pineapple Company by James Dole, who opened his first pineapple plantation in the central plateau of the Hawaiian island of Oahu.
Today the company does business in over 90 countries and takes in upwards of $5.3 billion in annual revenue. It is owned by billionaire David H. Murdock.
The Hawaiian Pineapple Company was later acquired by Castle & Cooke, and was renamed to Dole Food Company, Inc in 1991. Castle & Cooke Inc, a real estate company, was spun off in 1995; it is currently a separate company but is also owned by Murdock.
Dole incorporates the Standard Fruit Company, which was acquired by Castle & Cooke between 1964 and 1968. It was then the U.S.'s second largest producer and importer of bananas. Dole and Chiquita remain the top two U.S. banana companies.
Historically, the Hawaiian Pineapple Company had a hand in the hostile overthrow of Hawaii's last queen, Liliuokalani, and the establishment of Hawaii as a U.S. territory.
Sanford Dole, the cousin of James Dole, was briefly president of the Republic of Hawaii in the years immediately following the overthrow of the Hawaiian monarchy, in 1893.
Dole Food Company, Inc. is member of the SA8000 Social Accountability International (SAI).
Dole also has a plantation in the Philippines and a packing plant in Thailand.

I like the porcelain dishes used at this restaurant, here's H's cuppa hot water!

Jasmine Tea (RM$5) - Beautifully balanced taste, and the Myanmarese waiter was courteous and efficient all night, constantly topping up the hot water, and removing used dishes etc. Brilliant service!

Hakka Yam Abacus (RM$16) - For a dish which I don't normally enjoy, this was pretty good. Not so heavy as it normally is, but tasted light and exhibited good flavours.

Stir fried Kampung Chicken with Wine (RM$28) - Hmm, I tried a bit of this (Had dinner before lah!), and it was good. Lots of chinese wine!!

Hakka Minced Pork Bantiao (Hakka noodles @ RM$13) - This was good. Really enjoyed my 2 bites! BUT, boy do I miss ... Hakka Mee at Seremban's Tow Kee

Assam Pedas / Window Restaurant, Royale Bintang Damansara @ The Curve

Window Restaurant, or Assam Pedas as it is known now, serves Western food adjacent to the Royale Bintang Damansara hotel.

With a name like Assam Pedas, we assumed that it would serve Malaysian food, but the menu was strictly western. The water served tasted like it was direct from the tap, and the waiter didn't seem very interested. Luckily, when we asked to leave, after looking at the menu, they didn't mind. Would have probably been a bad experience, oops... meal!

The Curve, Mutiara Damansara @ PJ

Hmm, Bubble Gump is now in town. Seems popular amongst various bloggers! I haven't had the chance to try it yet though...

Honda Integra Type R

Honda Integras always seem to come in hot white :-) This was spotted in Klang.

Wikipedia
The Fourth generation Honda Integra (2002-2006) is also known as the DC5.
The fourth generation Integra, produced from 2002 on, was renamed the Acura RSX for the United States, Canada and Hong Kong in accordance with Acura's new alphabetical naming scheme. It also had an entirely new engine, the K-series. The RSX was still sold as a Honda Integra in Japan and Australia, markets where Acura did not exist.
2006 marked the final model year for the RSX, and in May 2006, Honda discontinued the RSX. As of May 2007, the Honda Integra is still offered for sale in Japan, but was discontinued for sale in Australia.

21 : Card-counting in Blackjack (2008)

Source: DVD (Kepong)

In "21," Jim Sturgess plays Ben Campbell , an MIT student who joins a secret blackjack team that takes Vegas for millions by counting cards. He initially does thisas he desperately needs cash to pay for Harvard med school, but it soon leads into a spiral of arrogance and temptation. It seems the film was based on a true-life story, from Ben Mezrich's bestsellingbook, "Bringing Down the House."

"We're not gambling, we're counting cards," he tells his proteges - MIT's nonlinear equations professor Micky Rosa (Played by the fabulous Kevin Spacey)

Ben's main recruiter is sexy blonde Jill (Kate Bosworth), will their romance blossom? And, watch out for burly security boss Laurence Fishburne. The latter has a score to settle.
The extras play their parts well too ... Aaron Yoo, Liza Lapira and Jacob Pitts.

This film, directed by Robert Luketic, did promise a lot, and I was waiting months to savour it, but I felt a little dissapointed at the end of it. Perhaps it was cos' I could not understand what on earth this card-counting was all about!

Wall's - Mini Poppers & Magnum Classic Ice Cream

Hmm, Wall's still makes some nice ice-creams!

Wall's Mini Poppers - really REALLY yummy!

Wall's Magnum Classic - The evergreen classic :-) Still as good as ever. This used to be so luxurious, and I had forgotten (having been spoilt by Haagen Daz and Baskin Robbins ) how good a treat it was.

Opening hours: Daily, 12:00pm to 2:30pm, 6:30pm to 10:00pm.

Lobster bisque (RM$30) - Good soup, but of special mention is the delicious thin flaked pastry over the top.

My colleague's T-Bone steak. It was huge!

My Master Kobe Beef strip-loin steak prepared medium-rare (RM$350) served with vegetables and a potato dish.

Check out how juicy and tender the steak is ...

Ps. Le Meridien has a Passport 'loyalty programme', collect a number of stamps for each amount spent at one of their many restaurants (including Al Nafourah Lebanese ), and you are then entitled to a free meal.

Some history of Kobe beef and Prime which I recently found from The Star:
Kobe beef, as most of us are aware, comes from cattle that have been spoilt rotten, massaged and fed on a diet of beer and sake.
This practice of pampering the black Tajima-ushi breed of Wagyu cattle in Japan helps relieve stiff muscles, which is believed to show in the tenderness of the beef.
The beef's highly marbled texture is what makes it so popular as the fat, which breaks down during the cooking process, lends much of its flavour to the overall cut.
So tender is a serving of Kobe that many get addicted to it.

However, the alcoholic cattle do not find favour with those who abstain from alcohol, and as such, Kobe beef has been privy only to those without any restriction in their diet.
Le Meridien Kuala Lumpur executive chef Antoine Rodriguez said most beef lovers were not aware of the Master Kobe variety.
“Master Kobe is only used to describe the very elite, purebred Wagyu with marble scores of nine and greater. These Wagyu cattle from Australia are grain fed non-stop and their marble texturing is delicate and certainly higher than Wagyu cattle that have marbling scores of six and above,” said the chef, who received the Executive Chef of The Year award at the Hospitality Asia Platinum Awards 2007/2008.

The other thing about Master Kobe beef is that these Wagyu cattle are not fed alcohol.
“The Master Kobe is in fact a halal variety and we have certification for it,” chef Rodriguez said.
In fact, Rodriguez has to reserve his orders for the luxury meat, months in advance with the suppliers in Australia.

This month, the Australian Master Kobe Beef takes the spotlight at Prime.

We enjoyed this Semi Buffet mid last week, just haven't had the chance to update this particular blog! It seems the buffet is available every Thursday to Saturday. It is priced at RM108++ per adult (and RM58++ per child), inclusive of Arabic Coffee and Shisha. I didn't try the latter though, pity!

The starters ... go help yourself from the huge buffet spread. Slurp! I went twice :-)
Of special mention, various varieties of hummus, and other Middle-Eastern salads. I did find the soup rather boring though! Some of the specialty breads were to die for (such as the flat-ish one on my plate ... fabulous!) It seems the flat bread is made fresh daily, in the traditional way (baked lightly in a clay oven).

The kebabs (Lamb, chicken, beef all beautifully marinated) are brought to the table ... eat as much as you want! Between the four of us, we managed about 6 skewers!

The food prepared by Chef Ibrahim Hamam ranges from good to excellent, and from 8.15pm to about 10pm everyday except Sundays there is even a belly dancer making her rounds around the restaurant!

The desserts ... oh my! Yummy!

Overall ... great ambience, nice authentic touches with the belly dancing, and rather good value! Must return with a large group one of these days!

Ps. Look what I stumbled on as I was heading to the loo ... there's a really quaint sit down area adjacent to the lifts next to the restaurant!

Sunway Pyramid, Subang

Wesak Day shopping at Sunway Pyramid in Subang.
Did you know? There are 300 plus shops in the original Sunway Pyramid, and a further 500 plus in the new wing!

Interesting buildings, that have been very well kept over the past 10 years.

The Waterpark mascot!

Sunway Pyramid with its new Pyramid 2 wing has now expanded all the way to the area alongside the Waterpark! Here's a shot by night as we were leaving...

Wikipedia
Sunway Pyramid is a distinctive retail landmark located in the heart of Petaling Jaya. It was opened in July 1997 as Malaysia's first themed shopping and entertainment mall.
One of the mall's most easily recognised design is the Egyptian-inspired Pyramid with a lion "standing guard" at the entrance. The rest of the building is embellished in the monumental style, complete with pseudo-hieroglyphics decorating facades, along with numerous Pharonic statuaries.
Sunway Pyramid is also one of the only shopping malls in Malaysia to have an indoor ice skating rink.
A monorail station connected to the Kuala Lumpur Monorail was originally planned to be built here. Construction began in early 2006. However, the plan was stopped and in 2007, they are thinking of demolishing the monorail extension.
The new wing of Sunway Pyramid, called the Pyramid 2 (or P-2) was opened in 2007. It is opened to newer retailers such as Jusco, Giant, Harvey Norman and so on. There is also a new section in P-2 called Marrakesh, derived from the place in Morocco. Expansion of the parking area to nearly 8 floors makes this place popular with tourists, local and foreign alike. It is also plays host to many exclusive boutiques.

Cheong Ching Fei Chau Yue / Steamed Carp with Bean sauce - Delicious as always!

Other dishes which were also good at this place, which has good service, was the Signature Tofu (Minced pork and to-fu, which is silky smooth), and Foo Yong Tan / Omellette.

Korean starters ... slurp slurp. Declined on the kimchi but we took most of everything else, the fish-cake and the to-fu was especially good with the lettuce (topped with some minced bean / tauchu-style sauce).

This restaurant always surprises us with complimentary stuff, this time it was some fried fish. But we declined, there was too much food already (Check out the fangs on this little fish!).

BBQ - Pork / Samyeop Sal (RM$25)
BBQ - Pork/ Doeji Galbi (RM$28)
This was average, not too tasty ...

And this was much better! Deeper marination, yummy.

Bulgogi D Baegi (RM$20) - My favourite Korean dish, but I think the one at Arisu may be better! Review of Arisu at Riana Green in Tropicana's Bulgogi - Drooool!
Pajeon / Spring Onion Omellette (RM$25)

Green tea (RM$2), Fresh and very yummy Pineapple Juice (RM$6) and 100-Plus (RM$4). Decent value with the total (with tax and service charge) at RM$128.80 (nice number!).

Ps. Perhaps it was our taste-buds being slightly desensitized by the Nasi Lemak at Village Park, but the food just didn't seem as yummy as before! Visit to Seo Gung back in November 2007

Village Park Nasi Lemak, Damansara Uptown @ PJ

H's choice at Village Park, in Damansara Uptown ... Nasi Lemak with Rendang Beef and Curry Chicken. RM$9.60. Yummy, and truly divine!

Nasi Lemak with Fried Chicken (deeeeeeeeeeelicious!) and Curry Veges too. RM$7.50.

Ah hah ... a weakness of Village Park (finally! they are so good at so many things!!) ... the Soya Cincau. RM$2.20. Eeeeeep, the soya milk isn't very soya-ey, not very tasty.

The Kaya Toast is EXCELLENT, it is of the thinner and crispier variety. Great stuff! Only RM$1.90.

Ps. Seems Village Park has introduced a 'After 3pm' menu now... check this out.

Pimped up Honda Accord (previous generation) spotted in SS2 ... Nice BIG rims!

Yong Kee - Traditional & Fusion Pan Mee, Damansara Utama

Add: 7, Jalan SS 21/37, Damansara Uptown / Damansara Utama, PJ
Located: Next door to the mighty Village Park Nasi Lemak.
Hmm, I wonder ... Is the business concept to catch the spill-over crowd from the very VERY busy Village Park?

Traditional Pan Mee - Eeeep, the broth was not very tasty, and there was hardly enough ikan bilis to go along with the noodles. Sigh ... bad start.

Char Choy Pan Mee (Don't know the actual name, but that was what was in it) - Decent, but hardly special.

Yong tau foo - Various varieties, ranged from average to very poor (The fish paste / fish meat in the roll as well as the brinjal tasted so weird, and hardly fish-like! Strange texture...).

Finally, the last straw ... the paper wrapped chicken aka chee pau kai, SO DRY! :-(

Ps. Overall, a poor effort, and I doubt we will ever return. We left feeling both dissapointed and unsatisfied!

There's a spider on my table!

A little bit of macro-work on a teeny weeny spider on my table this afternoon ... Hmm.

Cosmo Lobby Lounge, KL Hilton (Sentral, KL)

This is the KL Hilton lobby lounge.
Just chillin on a Sunday night, pre-Wesak Day!
Heels must be in fashion!
H's kish ... they were generous with the chicken chunks, and it was rather good!
Coffee, Hot Chocolate , Tea and Macallan-12 were the chosen poisons of the night ...

Dark and cosy interior, may have retro-feel, but looks like it has actually been recently refurbished!

Kerabu chicken feet (RM$14)
Pineapple fried rice (RM$25.80) - Wow, quite expensive! Average ...
Basil and chilli chicken (RM$16) - Tasted nothing like pad kaprao, but was still yummy.
Tom Yum Koong / Prawn (RM$24) - We each had a bowl, there was only enough for the 4 of us. Pricey!

Thai style 3 spices fish (RM$32) - Fresh, spicey and tasty.

Sambal prawns (RM$20) - Good, but o' so small.
Chicken green curry (RM$16) - Pretty good too.
(But we ordered beef ... never mind!)
With a motto like 'The best of traditional thai cuisine since 1979', I was expecting a lot! Alas, I found the food to be Malaysian with a hint of Thai rather then vice-versa. Nevertheless, appetising, tasty food, which is slightly on the expensive side.

d'lish serves up a Flourless Cup Cake

Flourless Orange Cupcake with Marzipan Orange (RM$6.50) - Average, but interesting concept!

D’lish has currently 2 outlets:-
1) Midvalley Megamall - Ground Floor, opposite Starbucks
2) BV / Bangsar Village - Ground Floor, located next to Village Grocer
Opening hours: 10am - 10pm

Champ's is a long-serving sports bar at Centrepoint, in Bandar Utama.
Known as the 'Damn Shiok Bistro', you can call them up at +603 7722 5800.

The owner's friend, with his Nikon D300, doing some still-life portraits of what may be new dishes lined up at the restaurant. Hmm ...

Friends having a quick bite and drink, chilling out on an afternoon :-)

The drinks were all good (I didn't eat) ... Fresh orange juice, Lychee, and Lychee Jelly.

Here's some cakes I took home ...

Sri Bayu Klasik - Malay restaurant, Pandamaran

Add: Restoran Sri Bayu Klasik @ Bayu Perdana, near Pandamaran in Klang

Sambal fish - REALLY REALLY spicey ... grrr. Way too hot!

Prawn Tomyam - Darn hot!

Telur bungkus - Would have been good if not for excessive tomato ketchup!

Pandan chicken - Uh, not very good!

Tourism Malaysia website describes this place ...
This pleasant restaurant located near Tg. Ampuan Rahimah Hospital offers various types seafood cuisines and is committed to using the finest and freshest ingredients. They strive to bring interesting menu items to your plate.

Ford Focus - Saloon with Bodykit

Nice bodykit with concealed exhaust tips in this Ford Focus I recently observed in a Kuala Lumpur hotel carpark ...

Dita Eyewear - Supa-Dupa sunglasses

This is definitely in-vogue at the moment! Large sunnies!

Some research showed up the following ...
The story of Dita Eyewear is really the story of life long friends, Jeff Solorio and John Juniper co-founders of Dita and the driving forces behind Dita's celebrated designs. Jeff and John have been friends since grade school and share a common passion for photography and design. Together they were inspired to capture their passions not just on film but in eyewear as well, thus creating the first collection of Dita frames in 1996.

THE FOUNDATION
With their natural affinity for design, they came up with a plan to introduce stylish eyewear inspired by vintage frames from the 50's through the 80's. Utilizing modern materials and shapes, Dita's designs distinguish themselves with quality, look and fit. Jeff and John envisioned Dita as an alternative to label branded eyewear. Dita's logo details are intentionally subtle so that the frame itself defines the look rather than the logo. This allows the design of the frame to complement features of the wearer and contribute to their overall style.

nytimes.com
USD$160 will buy saucer-size versions from Dita, the Los Angeles company that makes Supa Dupas, the fashion insignia of tastemakers like Mary-Kate Olsen and style bait for postadolescents eager to emulate Ms. Olsen's affectless, just-out-of rehab look.

This Vios owner is so proud of his V-Kool (A tinting film that is VERY popular in Malaysia, and possibly Singapore too?) ... he has an emblem on his boot!

Saujana Golf - Bunga Raya Course

Another week at Saujana, this time on the Bunga Raya course. We had visitors from work, so we entertained them with a round of golf ... 3 flights tee'd off at 08:59am on a Saturday morning, fabulous!

I had a decent Front Nine, shooting 54, despite playing very poorly. Terrible driving!

Time for the back nine ... disaster struck for me, I shot a 64 on this 9 alone, and lost at least 6 balls! Sigh...

I like the graphics on this signboard, on the Back Nine!

And we finished off our round on a very hot and humid Saturday ...

Pick n Brew @ One Utama

Pick n' Brew is located between the new and old wing of One Utama Shopping Centre, you may need some patience and legwork to find the place!
This was the first time I joined the Saturday Nite Dinner Kakis for one of their sessions, thanks for the invite guys!

Add: F233, First Floor Promenade, One Utama Shopping Centre, PJ

Tastefully decorated interior that balances modern without being harsh ... good job.

The menu is well thought out, and the dishes are priced reasonably I reckon.

Hmm, for a place that fames itself for its coffees I wasn't particularly impressed by my Sumatra (RM$10). Nor was the Symphony (RM$10) impressive. Iced Coffee was also RM$10.

The bread had a hint of rosemary, but perhaps needed a little more herbs. Nevertheless, a nice start.

Mixed Snack Platter - Pretty good. Well priced too, RM$20. Between us, we shared 2 platters.

Hmm, is that another blogger I see in the house!? :-)

Seafood chowder soup (RM$13) - Plenty of stuff inside, yummy!

Barbecued Vegetables Soup (RM$13) - Tastes like tomato, but that's no bad thing. Our gang ordered three!

Cream of Pumpkin soup (RM$13) - Slurp!

Spanish prawn salad (RM$19) - No complaints!

Finally, on to the mains ...
Baked Oat Almond Snapper (RM$28)

Baked Chicken with Mustard and Olive (RM$30) - Pat's selection. Yummy, I had some!

Pesto Sun dried Tomatoes (RM$20) - Not very impressive, seems Nero Teca's is better.

Slipper Lobster Bisque Grill (RM$38) - My selection, a wee bit fishy especially the slipper lobsters, and the broth was very much remeniscent of my Barbecued Vegetables soup! But overall, OK.

Herbs crust Rack of Lamb (RM$38)

This mussels/clams seafood spaghetti combo , was returned to the chef ... was well too fishy :-( They did take this off the bill.

Presenting ...
The Saturday Nite Makan Dinner Kaki group!

We loved the apples ... have as many as you want, F.O.C!

Apple Crumble Cheesecake (RM$9) - the signature cake here, I loved it!

Strawberry Cheese Cake (RM$9) - Some liked it, but I thought simply average.

Blueberry Cheese Cake (RM$9) - Good

Double Brownies with Ice Cream (RM$15) - Simply fabulous!

It was so good.. I just had to take ANOTHER shot!

All in all, good ... nope, make that great service, well priced food (Total for all of us, after Jackson's 10% flogger-discount, was RM$411) , some of the dishes were a little too fishy, nice decor, coffees are average, and generally a good place to hang out!

ps. Pity they close early, at about 10:30pm (Understandable as they are in a mall complex).

Traffic jam at Klang exit - Kesas

There's very often a crawl at the Kesas exit to Klang, sigh ...

La Manila - Chicken pie & Spaghetti

Add: 24 Jalan SS24/13, Taman Megah, PJ
Tel: +603 7804 5797
I really like this unassuming place, have to say that the selection of cakes and pastas + some homegrown local dishes reminds me a lot of Secret Recipe, hmmm. Except that La Manila is a lot more homely!

Spaghetti - Simple, unassuming, and pretty darn good!

Chicken pie - A signature dish here, marvelous filling and pastry! Reminds me of some of the great pies I used to love in the UK, mmmmh. Cornish pasty anyone?

Seng Huat - Under the Bridge Bak Kut Teh, Klang

Add: 9 Jalan Besar, Klang
Tel: +6012 309 8303
Opening hours: Opened everyday 07:00am - 01:00pm, and 05:00pm - 11.00pm.

This is another one of Klang's legendary Bak Kut Teh joints! 29 years of history lies in this little corner shoplot ...

The Bak Kut Teh is good, very similar to the Taman Rashna / Teluk Pulai Pottery BKT style actually, but perhaps with a touch more MSG. We chose Sai Kuat and Pai Kuat, always good cuts of meat.

Accessories! Yau Char Kuay, Loh Tan (Stewed egg), and Tau Foo Pok too.

Together with some superior 'King tea' (Char Wong), the meal came up to about RM$14 per person.

Even The Star is in on the act...
Klang is the popular destination among diners in the Klang Valley when they fancy having Bak Kut Teh. Among these popular Bak Kut Teh restaurants is one located under the Klang bridge which was founded by Lee Han Sen in September 1979.
UPDATED! Thanks to Lynn for the map...

E46 Ci - One of the best cars of its generation

7 years on, and still a looker ... the E46 Ci (Coupe).

Wikipedia pays homage ...
E46 automobile platform is the fourth generation of BMW's highly successful 3 Series entry-level luxury car / compact executive car.
The sedan was introduced in 1998 and replaced the E36 sedans the same year.
The touring and coupé models appeared in 1999 with BMW's newly designed steptronic transmissions (available in all 3 series models), and the convertible and M3 later in 2000.
The E46 experienced enormous success in all markets and was widely considered the performance benchmark of its class.
The record year for the E46 was 2002, when 561,249 vehicles were sold worldwide.
As a credit to the E46 platform, it was chosen for Car and Driver Magazine's "10 Best Cars" every year of its production.

Rojak Singapura @ Pelita in Bandar Bukit Tinggi, Klang

We always enjoy Rojak Singapura ... this time, it was Pelita in Bukit Tinggi, Klang.

The roti pisang was rather good too ...

Previous visit to SS2's Pelita enjoying the Rojak Singapura too

BKK - KL on MH781 Economy

Airplane: Boeing 737-400 (I so much prefer the Airbuses!)
Flight: MAS MH781 (Code-share with Thai Air, Star Alliance)
Time: 07:40pm - 10:45pm (On time again)
Route: Bangkok (BKK) - KLIA

Here's the cheapo meal they served on board the flight, once again ... Somehow, on Air Asia, when one pays RM$10 for a meal and it looks kinda like this, it is fine, but on MAS ... our 'National Carrier' ... bah!

And as always ... I got my emergency exit seat. Plenty of legroom on the cheap!

KL Express : KLIA - Sentral for RM$35

Check out this sign ... duh, NO SURFBOARDS!?

This is the KLIA ekspres aka KLIA Express!
A high speed , non-stop , modern train ride from the airport to the 'heart' (well, one of the hearts) of Kuala Lumpur. To Sentral station, where Le Meridien and KL Hilton are located.

Its a nice comfortable place to be in, quick as well ... about 26 minutes for the journey, and saves you a RM$60-70 taxi ride.

Bangkok Airport - Nice statue

This is the statue that greets you after you go through Immigration at Bangkok Airport, it must be over 10 metres long ... pretty!

Suvarnabhumi - Bangkok International Airport

A cool feature of Thailand, is that your phone picks up the name of the base stations ... basically tells you where you are!

Space-age ... I like Suvarnabhumi! Always seems full of people, nice hustle and bustle ... KLIA seems way quiet in comparison.

The departure lounge

Co-sit Café, Bangkok Airport

This humble café serving all varieties of thai food, including my favourite Pad Kaprao (and Ladna, as well as Pad Thai too), is located near Gate C of the new Bangkok Airport. I also had some 'lu-chin' or pork-balls, which weren't very tasty.

Thai Whiskey - Minibar, Amari Pattaya

Thai Whiskey is VERY popular amongst the locals ... I didn't try a sip of this bottle from the Minibar, just took a pic of it!

Great ambience!

Something to whet the appetite

Starters to share ...

My lobster bisque - Pretty good, interesting froth on the top, like a cappucino!

Wagyu steak - Perhaps I should have ordered medium instead of medium-rare. Nevertheless, a good piece of meat!

Time for sweet!

And a cappucino to wind down the meal ...

Pad Kaprao @ Amari Ocean Tower, Pattaya

There was no way I was gonna leave Thailand without eating my fave thai dish, Pad Kaprao or Stir Fried (meat of your choice) with Basil and Chilli. Had this for Room Service late one night at my hotel, and it was rather good (a little bit too spicey!).

Review of Novotel Bangkok Airport's Pad Kaprao

PIC Kitchen & Jazz Pit, Pattaya

Jazz Pit at PIC Kitchen is a popular venue along Second Road in Pattaya, a short walk from Amari Ocean Tower. This was the venue for dinner on my first night in Pattaya, but I didn't take photos of the Fish Cake starters, Tom Yum, Mixed Vegetables, Sweet and Sour Fish, and Masamman Chicken Curry. It was good though!

This tree's circumference has grown (in the past ten years) from 3.80m to 4.15m , or by as much as 35cm! Wow... The Jazz Tree.

Robinson and Tuk Com, Si Racha in Chonburi, Thailand

Couldn't visit Pattaya without having a quick stop over at my old home of Si Racha :-) in Chonburi district, a 25 minute drive from Pattaya.

I used to shop here on the high street of Si Racha, from late 2003 - mid 2005. Robinson is still here!

This is Tuk Com ... Si Racha's equivalent of Low Yat (KL, Malaysia) or Funan (Singapore)!

Wikipedia ...
Amphoe Si Racha (also Sri Ratcha, Si Raja) is a district in the province Chonburi, Thailand. Its center is the town of Si Racha, located at the Gulf of Thailand, about halfway between Chonburi and Pattaya.
It is increasingly marketed as a luxury retirement and expat zone for wealthy foreigners such as Japanese and British, who want to live near the beach, world class golf courses and Bangkok, but without the negative aspects of Pattaya.
It is in a heavily industrial zone consisting of manufacturing and shipping industries, supported by the sprawling port of Laem Chabang (20th largest in the world, see List of world's busiest container ports). With Chon Buri city to the north and Pattaya, Bang Lamung township, Laem Chabang to the south, it forms the economic zone of the Eastern Seaboard of Thailand, a fast growing zone that is second to only Greater Bangkok in population and wealth. Due to the strong infrastructure, Laem Chabang and the Eastern Seaboard in general is the major hub for international exports
The town is rather famous for its seafood, mostly served with a very spicy chili sauce called nam prik si racha made from chili and vinegar. It has thus lend its name to Sriracha chili sauces. The town is also the main transit point to Ko Sichang.
North of the town is the temple Wat Ko Loi, located on an island connected with the mainland by a 1.5 km causeway. The temple mixes Thai buddhists and Chinese icons of worship, including a Buddha's footprint. The main touristical attraction of Si Racha are the zoos Khao Khew Open Zoo and Si Racha Tiger Zoo.

Si Racha Tiger Zoo had up to 400 bengal tigers as well as other animals on show. However in October 2004, tigers in the zoo contracted bird flu of the dangerous H5N1 virus, probably from being fed infected chicken. 30 tigers died of the virus, another 80 were culled as they were suspected to have contracted the virus as well. The zoo was temporarily closed, but reopened early in 2005. Entry costs 200 baht and includes scheduled tiger shows in the amphitheatre.
