Al Ain Zoo & Wildlife Park, near Abu Dhabi

Spent the UAE Day weekend at Al Ain Zoo :-) Al Ain is an hour and a half's drive from Abu Dhabi, and is a great place to spend half a day ... both at the zoo, and at Jebel Hafeet (A 1,300m mountain, where you can have a really nice drive up!). The entrance fee to the zoo is 15 AED for adults, and free for young children / infants.

My gear for the day ...
Body: Nikon D80
Lens: Nikkor AF-S VR Zoom-Nikkor 70-300mm f/4.5 - 5.6G IF-ED
Shooting mode: Aperture priority, free-hand

Big cats ...

And more ... We like big cats!

I liked this part of the zoo, which felt a bit like a safari :-)
This new lens can certainly ... "reach"! 300mm at the maximum zoom on DX-format is the equivalent of 450mm on film / full-frame! Wow :-)

Reasonably sharp as well, especially between 70 and 200mm! I think the bokeh is very acceptable as well :-)

The bird sanctuary and penguin house were our last stops ...

Interesting. I wanted to visit it during the third quarter, but that time I still had an overdose of animal encounter in Singapore Zoo. You've got nice shots!
