Steamed Fish ala Anthony Bourdain, off Chan Sow Lin, KL

Add: Jalan 3,Chan Sow Lin off Sungei Besi, Kuala Lumpur
Tel: 012-2318129, Chong Yen
Directions: Duh ... hmm, perhaps best to ask Swedish Marque (Volvo) along Sungai Besi, as that is located on 5-7 Jalan Dua, off Jalan Sungai Besi, which is one road away from this 'Place under the Big Tree'! Volvo's telephone : +603 9236 2822 . Just pretend you want to find out where Volvo is, and voila ... you will find this amazingly quaint fish place!

What's behind these trees along a little road off Jalan Sungai Besi?

Yes! Its a little steam fish eatery! This was actually recommended by Anthony Bourdain when he was in Kuala Lumpur, in 2007 ...

Service was friendly, we even shared jokes with the hard-working Chef who singlehandedly controlled his kitchen ... and the Cheong Cheng Fish (Gravy Steamed Fish) was immaculately prepared. Perfectly steamed, and full of flavour. Bravo!

Chicken feet is not exactly my cuppa tea, but my partner in crime said it was deeeelicious. The stir fried veges were good though!

All this for not much more then RM$30. Superb!

As recommended by Anthony Bourdain on No Reservations ...
"At The Place Under The Big Tree, ambiance is not the top concern. Here, the focus is on quality food. Two giant, freshwater grass carp heads double steamed and sauced with brown bean paste, anis and curry. Sometimes you find the best food in the most unusual places. This magnificent meal--and right next door they're banging away on steel and adjusting shocks."
