Magnificent Fish & Chips Bar, Bukit Bintang (KL)

The Magnificent Fish & Chips Bar
28, Changkat Bukit Bintang . Kuala Lumpur
Tel: +603 2142 7021
Opening hours: Daily, 8.00am - 1.00am weekdays, and 10.00am till late on weekends.

One late night dinner ... and well worth the wait of many months of planning to come here!

Fish chowder ($20) - sublime!

English (not french!) Onion Soup ($17) - excellent too.

Barramundi fish n chips ($28) - EXCELLENT! Tender, tasty, lovely!

Parrot fish and chips (Yes! Parrot fish! $32) - More firm, more texture, but I preferred the Barra.

Kilkenny 1/2 pint ($17) and Tiger draught 1/2 pint ($9)...

One of the highlights of the meal ... Mushy Peas ($5).

It was nice bumping into Adam there ... as was meeting his lovely friends, who were travelling round the world, Ali from London and Nati from Peru! Click here for their travel blog!

This excellent pub is run by Paul James ... (Friend of Michael Tan of Tanner's at Bukit Tunku, small world).

The chips here are like how real chips should be. None of that McDonalds shoe-string fries nonsense. And the chunky tartare sauce is divine (very comparable to the aioli that comes with the wedges at Telawi Street Bistro). If only they opened til the wee hours, would be the perfect end to a massive night of dancing.

Never got to taste the food. We waited 45min for a table only to have it given away to another couple who walked in less than 10min ago. And the manager had the nerve to tell us to make a reservation next time. The staff were incredibly rude, unapologetic and completely disgusting. To top off such a wonderful experience, I had a vodka lime while waiting and it came tasting like sugar water.

Their salmon toast was excellent! if i'm not mistaken, they have majo+wasabi spread on the toasted bread before they put the fresh salmon on top. barru fish & chips is a must-try!
