Cars are BIG in America!

I keep seeing bigger and bigger 'cars'!

The Cadillac Escalade is a full-size luxury sport utility vehicle sold by the General Motors luxury brand, Cadillac. It was the division's first major entry into the popular SUV market. The Escalade was introduced for the 1999 model year in response to German and Japanese competitors and to Ford's 1998 release of the Lincoln Navigator.
The Escalade project went into production only 10 months after it was approved. The standard Escalade is built in Arlington, Texas. The name Escalade refers to a siege warfare tactic of scaling defensive walls or ramparts with the aid of ladders or siege towers.
Both the Escalade ESV (Based on the Chevrolet Suburban) and Escalade EXT (based on the Avalanche pickup truck) were made in Silao, Mexico before the 2006 redesign; the new Escalade ESV is sourced from Arlington, Texas.

The Chevrolet Avalanche is a four-door, six-seat pickup truck with a somewhat SUV-like flavor, known as a "sport utility truck". Avalanche is based on the full-size long-wheelbase General Motors SUVs (such as the Chevrolet Suburban), and itself forms the basis of the upscale Cadillac Escalade EXT. On Chevrolet's website, the Avalanche is listed as an SUV or a pickup. Avalanche features four full-size hinged doors with seating for 5 or 6. The open bed in the back can be extended into the back seat area by folding down the rear wall (or 'midgate' as GM markertes call it) of the cabin and removing the rear window. A series of three removable panels provides a watertight top for the cargo bed.

The Chevrolet Silverado (along with its GMC counterpart, the GMC Sierra), is the latest line of full-size pickup trucks from General Motors.
As of 2006, the Silverado pickup is the 2nd largest volume vehicle in the United States, behind the Ford F-Series pickup truck.
Combined with platform-mate GMC Sierra, the platform usually outsells the Ford F-Series, which is actually made of two different platforms for standard and heavy duty models, not counting SUV derivatives such as Suburban, Tahoe, Escalade, or Yukon.
For the first half of 2007, 310,896 Silverados were sold in the U.S., compared with 355,438 Ford F-Series. With 99,293 GMC Sierras also sold in the same period.

And yes ... Hmm, there are still 'mid-sized' cars in America... haha!
