My bro, TC, was back in town and we celebrated the evening with some Highland Park whisky, aged 21 years. So smooth and not a hint of spiciness, a nice change from the usual Macallan or Famous Grouse!
Wikipedia ... Highland Park Single Malt is a Scotch whisky distilled by Highland Park Distillery, Kirkwall in the Orkney Islands, the northernmost distillery in Scotland, a half mile north from that of Scapa. The distillery was founded in 1798.
The name of this whisky does not refer to the area of Scotland known as The Highlands, from which the Orkney Islands are excluded, but rather to the fact that the distillery was founded on an area distinguished from a lower area nearbyHighland Distillers was founded in 1887 by the Robertson family.
In 1970 Highland purchased Matthew Gloag & Son Ltd., producers of the Famous Grouse blended whisky and acquired The Macallan single malt Scotch producers in 1996. Highland also produced the Highland Park brand whisky. Highland Distillers was purchased by the Edrington Group in 1999. William Grant & Sons and the Edrington Group took Highland Distillers private in 2000.
And... more indulgence! Mild, lovely flavours and rolled with superb integrity.
