Kon Loh Mee - Wan Tan Mee @ Jalan Gelugor, Klang

Following reading KHKL's blog recently I decided to make a trip to the Jalan Meru area of Klang, to visit this Jalan Gelugor Kon Loh Mee joint ... Thanks to Stan's GPS we found it easily. Do click on KHKL's link for more details/directions.

This is the key landmark, Maybank at Jalan Meru.

We got there, after doing our election duties in Shah Alam at 10:25am, and the stall wasn't even set up yet. There were actually TWO wan-tan mee stalls in the same row, but a friendly mechanic opposite pointed us to the 'original one'! So, I had a cuppa Teh Si before the stall was ready, at Restoran Langkapur opposite.

Add: Jalan Gelugor, Klang
Directions: Opposite Jalan Kepayang (off Jalan Meru, where Maybank is located)
Opening hours: We waited from 10:45am, but the stall only started serving (we were the 1st!) us at 11:32am. I hear it sells out real quick!
That Proton Saga with the lid open was the Propietor's warehouse/storage area!

The weakpoint of this stall ... The green chillis which weren't preserved long enough, AND the char-siew which is only average. The Leong Chah was also overly bitter, but I hear the sugar cane may be good!

We eagerly anticipated that first bite ... and knew that the stall was opening when the Propietor came back with his mum (?) who was the Wan Tan Maker in the family!

Smiles all around ... yes, its goooooood!

Great classical kon loh mee, as my dad describes it ... springy noodles ... and excellent but miniscule wan-tons, with a lovely flavoursome soup.

RM$6 for Kon Loh Mee + Wan Ton soup, and RM$3.30 for noodles without the soup. Excellent!

The best wan tan mee in Malaysia especially the wan tan i always ask for another bowl, it float on top of the soup, , start 11 morning finish at 1 something, better wait patiently if you complain a lot the owner may ask you go to neighbour stole, so be patient!

Dont think the mee is good. It's terribly expensive and the portion too small. Only the wantan is good. Their opening days are irregular. Might as well go for Wah Chai Wantan mee in Bkt Tinggi or its old stall at Emporium Makan.
