These pastries along with some yummy soya-cincau from Jenny Hong's stall, located opposite Section 14 in PJ's Jaya Supermarket ... were nothing to shout about. BUT, thinking of Jaya Supermarket always brings back memories of my childhood, and how it used to be THE mall to go to!
Some notes I found online :-)
Jaya Shopping Centre has been operating at this very same spot for almost three decades (since 1974). It was previously known as Jaya Supermarket but despite the name change, this shopping centre that is strategically located in Section 14 in Petaling Jaya, has remained a bustling location for many families looking for variety, convenience and value-for-money products. Always busy with patrons, the shopping complex is not very big compared to the newer malls but has a good variety of products. The Cold Storage Supermarket is the main tenant on the ground floor; you can also find a pharmacy, family restaurants, coffee and cake joints, snack counters and bakeries as well as a large number of stalls selling handicraft, trinkets, scarves and assorted items for the home & kitchen.

yup.. it's really too bad they are tearing it down... :(
Sad to know how the long time tenants had to vacate the place...development, good or bad?
Heard that Atria is next to go!
The building tore itself down today. It collapsed and trapped a few indonesian workers inside. It's a tragic end!
I guess this is a poignant post in light of the tragic end this week to what was a local landmark ... :-(
Jaya Supermarket will live on in our memories!
