Santai Malay cuisine, Taman Tun Dr Ismail (TTDI)

Here's another visit to Santai, my favourite Malay restaurant ... anywhere! Yes, it's that good :-) Located in Taman Tun Dr Ismail, next to another restaurant I like, 99 Steak and Chops . Both are located on Persiaran Zaaba. Yummy!

Santai is one of those places I have been back to many MANY times!

I always seem to order the same dishes ... but these are all excellent!
Nasi Goreng USA (served with delicious beef masak merah)

Tom Yam Campur - Do ask for 'Less Hot / Kurang Pedas' unless you can take it spicy! Excellent flavour :-)

Telur bungkus - Best in the business!

Kailan Ikan Masin - Slurp!
(Thanks for the correction, Jojo & Kath)

Sotong tepung - Pretty good, love the batter even though I am not a squidgy sotong fan!

Washed down with some decent Hot Barley and Teh Tarik Kurang Manis.

Ps. Ah, hah ... I now know why their food is so good. I couldn't put my finger on it before, but now I realise that the food here is so appetising cos' many of the chefs are Thai!! One of the founders is a gentleman by the name of Mohd Farid Khalid.
Rasarasa.net ... Santai's journey to success as a family-owned restaurant started rather humbly as a caterer to office functions and weddings.
Each year, during the month preceding Hari Raya, however, their alcohol-free fruit cake became a huge success. This prompted them to look at bigger things.
In the year 2000, they opened their first restaurant in Taman Tun Dr Ismail serving Malay-Thai food using cooks from Pattaya, Thailand.
Since then they have opened two more outlets, both at Tesco (at Mutiara Damansara in 2005 and at Ampang in 2006). The TTDI restaurant is usually packed during lunch and dinner so go there early if you are not prepared to wait.

Wow have yet to try out this place. So far I like Khalifah Sek. 3's nasi goreng USA. And the kangkung ikan masin in the pic looks like kailan ikan masin :p

Oops ... I stand corrected. Time to update my blog, it IS Kailan :-)

Nasi Goreng USA @ Khailfah ... as in SHAH ALAM!? Hmm, must try!

Have to admit, I like the variant they serve at Santai as it isn't with sausage / fried chicken, but instead with beef masak merah, SLURP!
