Exquisite Lemon Cheese Cake - Tangy, but not overly sour, and just sweet enough (especially the one served at Jalan Bangkung, off Bangsar), and decent Caramel Cheese Cake (not much of a fan of the 'nutty' base).

Hey
have you tried Hyotan in SS15? same row as rakuzen
Nupe! Jap food? Hey, have we met Mun Shan? Cheers!
Yea...Japanese food. Just opened recently.
i love the fried octopus and the salmon sticks there. Hopefully they have the big octopus cause the first time i tried it... it was big. then the second... it was the small local ones.
erm... i dont think we met before. Was surfin the net and came across ur blog... VERY INTERESTING blog u have!
Visited Hyotan Restaurant at SS15 (same row as Rakusen) lately.
Once you enter and go up the first floor you feel like you are in Japan.
Love the floor and wall material/design.
Food - wow their MENU is great. Tried the KOBE BEEF (on hot plate). the taste is excellent. Once you tried this, you will not eat normal beef. But price is expensive for this item.
Surprisingly many of the items price is relatively cheap. Unlike many other Japanese restaurant where you just order the typical Japanese Tempura, Shashimi or Sushi, here at Hyotan, there are many authentic Japanese dishes. I asked the waitress about the chef. He (handsome Japanese man) spent 20 overs as chef in Japan and then 10 years in Malaysia before opening Hyotan.
Now I have big problem. My family bugs me to take them there at least once per week - pok kai!!
Wow, thanks for the excellent write-up ... wonder who you may be ... some top secret flogger (food blogger) ... cheers!
Will try Hyotan some time ...
My kids requested to go to HYOTAN JAPANESE RESTAURANT again for father's day celebration.
We were recommended IKA GESO TSUME YAKI (Grilled Squid/Egg and spring onion with special sauce - copied from Menu). Wow........very delicious. A must try again next time.
This time we asked chef to recommend us some dishes - Somen Campur (somen noodle fried with TUNA), MAGURO TATAKI, FUNWARI TAMAGO, KAKI MAYO....
According to chef, they made all sauces themselves from basic ingredients - they want to be different from others - they do not like to buy ready made sauces due to added preservatives!!
Visiting them again next week...
