Wah Chai - Famous wan tan mee in Bukit Tinggi, Klang

Refreshing start to the meal, kat-chai suin-mui drink ;-)

Dad chose the porky noodles, looked good!

A visit to Wah Chai (Bukit Tinggi, Klang) for me ALWAYS means .. Wah Chai's Kon Loh Mee, oops Wan Tan Mee. Really good as always, only RM$4.

Nasi kandar - Khalifah at Section 3 Shah Alam

We are not the first, but we are the best!
Don't you love Khalifah's motto ;-) So Avis-like!

I love their Nasi kandar ... Curry chicken, Ayam masak merah, some cabbage, telur goreng kicap and rice ... Delicious at RM$10.

Audi A2 - A rare little car!

Audi A2 - A rare sight! Manufactured from 2000 - 2005. Spotted in Klang ;-)

Ah ... I miss rain ;-) Starting to pour in Shah Alam!

Ah ... Malaysia's electronic bank robber. SmartTag on our highways!

1Malaysia - Freehold Property, Sri Andalas Klang

1Malaysia !? Check out this billboard spotted in Klang ... Tsk tsk tsk!

Tasusia Bak Kut Teh - The Big Tree in Port Klang

Dad and son bonding session ... it isn't mamak this time, but Bak Kut Teh ;-) I think its the first time I am bringing my dad to one of the BKTs I frequent most often!

This is Ta Su Sia in Port Klang town ...
Add: Klang Tasusia Bak Kut Teh - Jalan Tengku Badar, 42000 Port Klang, Selangor

GPS! Courtesy of dad and his Nokia XpressMusic - N3 00.23 E101 23.59

Yes, there are healthier alternatives here to BKT ... Excellent and smooth tofu, and good stir fried veges!

And for the first time ever ... we ordered dry Bak Kut Teh, not the usual wet / soup-y variety! Sure I have had dry BKT before, but this was the first time we have ordered the dry variant but not the soup one, we usually order BOTH! Heh heh ... The dry BKT here is perhaps the finest I have had :-) Beautifully balanced yet powerful in flavour. Near perfect!

Dad couldn't resist having some Yau Char Kuey ...

And yes... thanks to dad, we now have GPS coordinates for this place!

Morning Glory by Starbucks

Thanks to WT for this bottle of Starbucks Morning Glory :-)
Its a mix of Dragon fruit (!) and kiwis, and there are even some "authentic" seeds in the drink ... Refreshing ;-)
ps - Yes, new Nikkor lens ... 85mm f/1.4 ... Nuff said ;-)

Home is where the stomach is ... Home cooking in Malaysia

It was a really good trip back home, and I made sure I didn't just eat out all the time ... the best food was definitely at home ;-) Y's chicken rice, home-reared kampung chickens courtesy of bbG's mama in TM!
Of course I had my share of porky meals ... Mmmh, porky soup noods.
Look ... not all I eat is porky ;-) I love tofu ... but not such a big fan of petai or chau tau!

Aunt Y calls this "traffic light" veges :-)

Really yummy, Aunty Y's special stewed porky dish ;-) Loh Chee Yuk.
And here's Aunt Y's signature chicken kai-chau noodles ;-)
More wonderful and wholesome food ...
I love home!

Grand Imperial Restaurant - Good tim sum at Sri Hartamas!

Thanks to AP for suggesting this eatery for Mother's Day lunch ;-) this year! She described it as a better value alternative to Reunion Bangsar Village, and she was right. The food was good!

As always, I will let the food do the talking ;-) Yong lat chiu (Stuffed fish paste in chilli) was good, and being a Lor Mai Kai connoisseur ... I had to order one, really good!

Not being one who "eats in sequence", eg starter - mains - sweet, I went straight to the egg tarts which were decent.

On to 2 really good dishes ... Pork Chop ;-) served on a bed of sweet onions. Mmmmmh. And the ultra smooth Pei Tan Sau Yuk Porridge. Excellent!

A couple of healthier options, the steamed tim sums ... Anything with beancurd skin (Fu chuk), I always like! The siew mais were OK, as was the Xiu Loong Bao.

Who would have thought one from French-chinese origins would order the Chicken's feet, oops Fung Chau. Yes, PP ordered this, and ate most of it I think. My dad chose the beef brisket, I loved the soup!

My family are Woo Kok fiends, we ordered this twice ... And for the finale, Siew Yuk. There's precious metal, and there's... precious pork. It sure felt that way as we each had only one piece :-( What can I say but it was really well loved by one and all!
I was impressed - Good service, really good food, place for us on Mother's Day (Most other restaurants were full!) and good value too ... About RM$30 per head.

My favourite makan in Bangsar ... Nam Chuan!

This is Nam Chuan ... My favourite makan place in Bangsar, located not from TMC or BV.
Add: Nam Chuan Coffee shop @ 2-4 Lorong Ara Kiri, Lucky Garden, Bangsar

Its no secret, I am a huge fan of "Economy Rice" or Chap-fan. Good value, this only cost RM$5. Great tasting, sweet and sour pork, some veges and steamed minced pork too. Quick .... ta-powed this in 2 minutes (Would have taken 1 minute, if I wasn't trying to make up my mind from all the dishes ... the box was too small, heh heh!).

Full of flavour, immaculately presented and garnished ... this has to be "aunty's" Sarawak Laksa. Again, RM$5. And soooooo good ;-)
ps - Have to admit this was part of my triple brunch one late morning in Bangsar, Nasi Lemak Tanglin @ Telawi (Forgettable!), followed by Sarawak Laksa eaten in-situ at Nam Chuan in Lucky Garden, and then ta-powed the chap fan too ;-)

Nasi Lemak Tanglin - Now in Bangsar!

Nasi Lemak Tanglin has now replaced Nasi Lemak Antarabangsa!

This outlet has a LOT to live up to, I had voted the original stall in Lake Gardens / Jalan Cendarasari, KL one of the FINEST Nasi Lemak in the country!

I was left extremely dissapointed, bland, flat, and hardly any "ooomph"! It was a poor representation of the original :-( And bloody expensive too, I think I paid over RM$15 for this nasi lemak - teh ais combo!

The teh ais (as in the original!) was also rather poor ... hardly any "kick" to it!
