In fact, she is the true-to-life spokesperson for XENICare, a weight loss support system by Roche Pharmaceutical. “The whole idea is that instead of getting a slim person to advertise, why not get a personality who’s already big,” she explains.
Since her heydays in Boom Boom Room, Joanne has garnered much admiration not only from fans of her outrageous wit but also from bigger women. “I’ve been told that I project the image that one doesn’t have to be beautiful to be liked,” she recalls. Beauty, in this context, is the perception of model-thin women.
