The Love Guru (2008) - Mike Myers, Jessica Alba

Source: DVD (Kota Damansara)

Excellent casting with ...
Mike Myers - Guru Pitka / Young Pitka / Teenage Pitka / Himself
Jessica Alba - Jane Bullard, owner of the Toronto Maple Leafs
Justin Timberlake - Jacques Grande
Verne Troyer ... Coach Punch Cherkov (Yes, it's Austin Powers nemesis Mini Me)
Ben Kingsley ... Guru Tugginmypudha and,
Rajneesh or the Guru's sidekick is played by Manu Narayan

One of those films which you will either LOVE or despise ... I am with the LOVE clan! Haha.. Check out the diverse set of storylines in this Mike "Saturday Night Live / Waynes World" Myers film...
1) Darren Roanoke (played by Romany Malco) has issues with his mother, but is required by his Toronto Maple Leafs team to win the Stanley Cup
2) Darren's wife, Prudence Roanoke (played vy Meagan Good) left him for Justin Timberlake's Jacques "Le Coq" Grandé. Check out his ... member!
3) Jane Bullard (Jessica Alba) gets the support of the Guru Maurice Pitka (Mike Myers) to help Darren with his pyscho-issues, hmm.. will they fall in love?
4) Will Guru Pitka be invited to appear on Oprah Winfrey's show?
5) Will Guru Pitka become The Guru, with #1 place currently held by Deepak Chopra.
6) Guru Pitka has a chastity belt put on by Guru Tugginmypudha (Haha, it's Ben Kingsley!!), how will this be removed?

Yes, look closely, it's Justin Timberlake!

ps. I loved the soundtrack as well ... Here are just a few of the memorable songs:-
Brimful of Asha (Norman Cook mix) - Cornershop
More Than Words - Extreme (Mike Myers and Manu Narayan does a cover of this)
C'est La Vie - Robbie Nevil
I Drove All Night - Celine Dion (singing Heart's iconic song)

Coco-dog crop and short hair-cut

Her coat is EVEN more silky smooth now ... Thanks to Adrian at Ikano :-)

Scotty Cameron by Titleist - Red X3 Putter

Drive for show, putt for dough ... Scotty Cameron putters retail at about RM$1200-1300, but with enough bargaining prowness you should pay no more then RM$1000 for one of these beauties!

From Scottycameron.com ...
The new Scotty Cameron Red X3 and Red X5 mallets feature refined shapes with a new glare-resistant Charcoal Mist finish for unmatched looks and feel.
Both models are precision milled from 303 Stainless Steel and finished with a black anodized aluminum soleplate with red graphics that conceals the precise internal weighting.

The Red X3 features a classic, single bend shaft with ¼ shaft of offset for the ideal toe-flow through the stroke. Its design takes a classic mallet into another realm of performance and style. A solid face. New graphics. A new finish. And a single sight line to guide the way.

In your bag...

All golfers know how reverred Scotty Cameron putters are, and collectors go through extremes to collect his unique putter covers!

Seri Selangor Golf - Not such a good score this time!

Not every day's a Sunday, even though today IS Sunday! Played much better on my previous round here at Seri Selangor.

New and old friends ... sharing the love for golf! The Sunday afternoon round cost us RM$100 each, inclusive of buggy.

BEWARE! Trouble everywhere ... We struggled out of the semi-rough and rough all day, and with the muggy weather prevalent, it was not an easy round, both mentally and physically!

The big guns!

Still smiling :-)

C'mon, get in the hole!

Here are a couple more shots at the end of our round, which finished at 06:45pm (We started at about 02:00pm). All in all, I wasn't pleased with my performance, especially on the back 9 (Which happened to be the easier 9 holes, Hole 1-9), shooting 51 + 54, for a paltry total of 105.

Money No Enough (1998) - 10th Anniversary Edition

Source: Speedy Video - Original DVD @ RM$19.99

Hard to believe this film was from way back in ... 1998, this has just been re-released as it is celebrating its 10th anniversary, and the sequel (Money No Enough II) was released recently too. Simply one of the best films ever produced in Singapore, excellent acting, great Hokkien one-liners, and the references made about life in Singapore is just spot-on!

Director: Tay Teck-Lock
Producer: JP Tan, Hsiao Yu-Hua
Writer: Jack Neo
Cast: Jack Neo, Mark Lee, Henry Thia, John Cheng, Patricia Mok

Described as "A local hit that focuses on the financial problems of three pals looking to get ahead in a crazy, money-obsessed culture. Although a bit amateurish and heavy-handed at times, Money No Enough works as an effective satire of certain aspects of Singaporean culture during the late 90s."

Did you know?
Money No Enough was released in cinemas on 7 May 1998 in the wake of the Asian financial crisis, Money No Enough earned over S$5.8 million and remains Singapore's all-time highest-grossing film. The Singaporean film industry experienced a revival following the success of the film, and it spawned two "copycats"(1999's "Where Got Problem" and "Lucky Number"). And, following the success of Money No Enough, the fledging Singaporean film industry experienced a revival, with a record number of local productions in 1999.

ps - One of my favourite scenes in the show is when Ah Hui proudly shows off his Motorola DynaTAC 8000X! This was the first mobile phone to receive FCC acceptance in 1983! And .. DynaTAC was actually an abbreviation of Dynamic Adaptive Total Area Coverage. Yes, the original "water bottle" or "brick"!

Exquisite La La at Restoran Boston Baru, Jalan Kapar - Klang

Which restaurant is worth fighting this type of traffic through Klang town? With the major upgrading work at the end of the Klang bridge, this type of traffic is common throughout the daytime hours in Klang.

Add: Jalan Kapar, Klang
Located: Along the same road as Kamdar, look out for Kolej ALC and 7-11. Boston Baru is directly opposite these landmarks. Best Optical is located alongside, and the restaurant happens to be om the same row as Lembaga Tabung Haji.
Opening hours: 7pm, or whenever the owner wants to open!

Kangkung Sotong (RM$9) - This little stall is located just outside Boston Baru, and it is surprisingly good. The sauce is excellent.

The signature dish ... the masterpiece.
This is La La cooked in white wine, with plenty of ginger and a sprinkle of lethal chilli padi. Exquisite!! The soup with the garlic bits, is simply heavenly.

Ham Yue Fah Lam Poh - Belly pork cooked in a claypot, with dried chilli padi. Excellent flavour!

Pek Kueh, tapioca slices - Stir fried hokkien style. This again is one of their most popular dishes.
UPDATE! Thanks to Lim for pointing out ... this may be called "chee hun kern"

Chow Kiat Bak Kut Teh, Jalan Kapar - Klang

Whilst waiting for Boston Baru to open, me and my colleague decided to try the Bak Kut Teh opposite the road :-) We chose a bowl of pai kuat , and a bowl of pun fei sau (half fat, half thin).

The BKT was actually rather good, it was of the very-herbal variety, and wasn't overly thick in texture.

Washed down with a pot of Ti Guan Yin tea ...

The bill was nearly RM$25, ouch, that's expensive, for 2 rather small bowls of meat and BKT soup!

Coco has just been groomed at Ikano

The "new" Coco!

Coco has had a crew cut!!

Roast Pig ... Slurp!

Good vege dishes ...

Ku Loh Yoke or Sweet and Sour Pork ... Delicious. Ordered TWO portions!

My favourite dish ... The signature lamb. Exquisite!

The crabs cooked in two styles, were really good, and it was all ... whalloped!

Here's how you dip your man-tou, there were even 2 varieties (One steamed, one deep fried).

Tasty noodles to end off the evening ... Happy Birthday, Jo!
