Just as I was thinking EVERY restaurant, even the obscure faraway ones, have been covered by Bloggers ... I may have found an un-Blog'ed restaurant, haha!

The Char Siew Pao was good ...


On to the most excellent dishes ... Very tasty Loh Mai Kai and Siu Mai which was perfectly steamed with a lot of yummy minced pork.


Can't wait to bring my mum to enjoy the EXCELLENT Woo Kok (Yam pastry with pork filling), quite superb!


The Chee Cheong Fun (Char Siew), and Cheng Pai Kuat was decent too ... So was the Aubergine Yong Tau Foo.


Only dissapointing dish ... the Char Siew Soh. Pastry was overly thick.


At just over RM$33 for all the above, including a pot of very good Hiong Pin tea, it was good value. Dunno why we were given 10% off for the meal, maybe it was cos' it was post-lunch hour at 1.30pm?

Here's the review of my first visit to this really good Tim Sum place
Mum's verdict :- Fresh, good food, and great value in a nice chinese restaurant atmosphere.
My verdict :- A winner!

Siew mai (Excellent), Carrot cake (Mum likes it), and Pei Tan Sau Yoke Chuk (Congee/Porridge - Pretty good)


Prawn Chee Cheong Fun, Char Siew Chee Cheong Fun, Fried Wantons with Mayo dressing .. All were pretty good. Dad thought the Ching Pai Kuat (Steamed pork ribs) wasn't seasoned enough, but the pork was of a good quality.


More dumplings and Har Kao too ... Good stuff, fresh, and piping hot. The Ngai Kuah Yeong Tau Foo (Stuffed brinjal) was delicious as well.


I think this restaurant's best dishes are the Lor Mai Kai (Glutinous rice) and the Woo Kok (so good, we had a double helping i.e. 2 x 2).


Great value ... all the above, enough to stuff the 3 of us ... RM$55.

Was surprised at how the quality of timsum (and how the food was NOT piping hot!) had deteriorated here ... not sure if it was caused by lack of staff or the usual chef on Merdeka Day? It was rather expensive too, by its own standards judging from my many previous visits here, at just over RM$50 for our meal (4 persons).. Wonder if that was caused by Merdeka Day surcharge!!? Inflation perhaps?

Ginseng Chicken - Good!
Fish ball - Average.


Beancurd skin roll - Good
Pai kuat - Didn't try this, dad ate it all!


Brinjal - Poor
Porridge with century egg - Ask dad!


Loh mai kai - Good stuff!
Char siew pao - Very poor


Yeong Lat Chew (Stuffed fish in chilli) - Poor

Cold towel @ Tim Sum place - Syntax error!

Spot the grammatical mistake ... oops, mistakes ... on this wet towel (RM$0.40) given at the end of our meal at Imperial, Klang ... Heh heh.

Koh Tong (Dongzhi / Winter Solstice) Dinner, Restoran Imperial @ Bukit Tinggi, Klang

Koh Tong or the Winter Solstice in the chinese calendar is always an occassion for families to get together ... this was our dinner :-)

Asparagus and Belacan - Very young, tender and fresh. Good!


Home made Tofu and Veges - Excellent.


Interesting facial expression on this fish ... Cheong Ching Fei Chau Yue.


Honey Pork Ribs ... A little on the sweet side, but good nevertheless.


Good value meal, decent chinese restaurant, fast service, and the bill for the four of us came up to ... RM$77.

The Dōngzhì Festival or Winter Solstice Festival (Chinese: 冬至; Pinyin: dōng zhì; "The Extreme of Winter") is one of the most important festivals celebrated by the Chinese and other East Asians during the Dongzhi solar term on or around December 22 when sunshine is weakest and daylight shortest; i.e., on the first day of the Dongzhi solar term
The origins of this festival can be traced back to the Yin and Yang philosophy of balance and harmony in the cosmos. After this celebration, there will be days with longer daylight hours and therefore an increase in positive energy flowing in. The philosophical significance of this is symbolized by the I Ching hexagram fù (復, "Returning").
Traditionally, the Dongzhi Festival is also a time for the family to get together. One activity that occurs during these get togethers (especially in the southern parts of China and in Chinese communities overseas) is the making and eating of Tangyuan (湯圓, Cantonese jyutping: tong1 jyun2; Mandarin Pinyin: Tāng Yuán) or balls of glutinuous rice, which symbolize reunion. Tangyuan are made of glutinuous rice flour and sometimes brightly coloured. Each family member receives at least one large Tang Yuan in addition to several small ones. The flour balls may be plain or stuffed.

Great value timsum place, all the below for a family of 4 ... for little more then RM$60. Fresh, yummy and overall "GOOD!".

Hmm, 'not very timsum' but dad wanted to try the pepper pig stomach soup. Not bad!


Slurp ... Rather good Cantonese style fried hor fun to finish the meal.

ps - The poh leh tea is good, but stay away from the sweet chrysanthemum tea!
