Ferrari 140 car convoy along Syeikh Zayed Highway, Dubai

I was driving from Dubai to Abu Dhabi late one afternoon, and wonder why there was a traffic jam on the normally "clear" Syeikh Zayed Highway .. Ah ha! A Ferrari convoy as long as the eye could see!!

DUBAI - Shaikh Majid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, officiated a 2-day VIP event at Meydan Grandstand and Racecourse and The Meydan hotel.
Organised by Al Tayer Motors, a convoy of 140 Ferrari cars lined up in front of the Meydan Grandstand, the world’s longest landscraper, which formed a stunning backdrop for various models of the luxury Italian marque. The convoy left enroute to Abu Dhabi, in officiation of the Grand Opening of Ferrari World Abu Dhabi.
The event was jointly coordinated between the UAE Ferrari Owners Club, Al Tayer Motors and Meydan, which included a luncheon for guests on The Meydan’s trackside terrace, and guests were treated to a performance by local UAE band, Al Ayala.

Amongst the beauties I spotted ... the gorgeous F430, magnificent 458 Italia and even the California. There were as many red ones, as there were many white / silver / gunmetal grey / yellow ones! Only in the UAE :-)

Cheap Duty-free, Bengaluru or Bangalore Airport

Time to head back to Dubai ... Emirates.

A drive through Bangalore, we spent quite a bit of time in the car/van, as it took close to 2 hours to get from the airport to Eagleton Golf resort ... and back!

More room service! Aloo Ghobi, or Cauliflower and Potato curry on the left, and pilau rice on the right. Good stuff!


On another night it was room service of Briyani ... nice! Eaten with curd or yoghurt of course :-)

On one of the nights, we had a lavish buffet put out for us. I especially liked the Chaat.
Wikipedia describes this dish ... The quintessential Indian street food is Chaat—a generic name for a tangy and spicy mix, whose ingredients can be quite varied. The tangy flavor is usually imparted by the use of lemon, pomegranate seeds, Kala Namak (black salt), tamarind, and various chutneys. Chaat can be prepared with fruit, with popular ones including guava, banana, apple, melon, etc. It could instead be made using small crisp pancakes made from fried flour, called "paapri", along with yogurt.

3 hour 40 minute flight from Dubai to Bangalore...

The food isn't bad, comparable to Etihad (Abu Dhabi's airlines) ...


Arrival at BLR, Bangalore International. Nice city airport, and not half as chaotic as Mumbai!

Lots of steel and glass, nice and airey!
