Kedai Makanan Hup Kee - Noodles in Tanjung Malim

We really like Hup Kee in Tanjung Malim, Perak :-) Its been around for decades now, and is just a nice little place to have breakies. Get a cuppa tea from Hup Kee, and order noodles from one of the 4 or 5 stalls opposite.

I like the wan tan mee here ... But the one near the Leon Yew shop is probably even better!

They also have other dishes, such as claypot noodles, soup noodles, yong tau foo, fried kuay teow and curry mee!

We love home cooked Yong Tau Foo in Tg Malim!

Mum's signature Yong Tau Foo in Tg Malim ... perfection!

Her signature achar :-) and other divine dishes!

The papaya and pineapple was simply divine, here you see some shots I captured with a humble Nikkor 50mm f/1.8D lens wide open at f/1.8.

Bak Chang ... which I eventually ta-powed back to the UAE!

Home is where the heart is ... Tanjung Malim

I remember doing a write-up of my Favourite foods of the year in 2008 , which was inspired by my first favourite foods review of 2007 ... but when I look back at 2009, I can't help but think ... Home is where the heart is.

My favourite foods of the year has to be those I enjoyed in Klang and Tanjung Malim too :-) Here's a recent fantastic home-cooked meal I had when I was home ... Steamed kampung chicken, Char-yoke Hakka style, stir fried homegrown spinach, and all the sauce condiments that perfectly compliment the dishes!

We love TM!

Roast Duck with VC and R ta-powed from KL ... all the way to TM, so goood! Juicy!
Deep fried Pork Knuckle served with plum sauce, packing an incredible flavour and so juicy. It was quite unbelievable! D agrees :-)
Best of all ... Only RM$30 for this delicious piece of meat!

Home is where the heart is ...

When I visit Malaysia, the first stop has to be ... Home!

Mum and Kak Y prepared such a nice homely feast for me ... Sambal petai udang, stir fried HK veggies, my favourite stir-fried cabbage and ... Pork Chops with Black pepper sauce. Deeeeeeeelish ... PUKKA!
And in Tg Malim, the feast continued :-) Home-reared chicken (steamed of course), and various other magical goodies! I love home!!

Lembah Beringin SSG Golf - Near Tanjung Malim

Add: Lembah Beringin, Kuala Kubu Bharu, Selangor
Tel: +603 6460 0016
Located: Take the North South highway, when travelling from KL towards Ipoh, its the exit BEFORE Tanjung Malim

Not the most difficult of courses, but reasonably scenic, we played on a Saturday morning, and it cost me RM$160 for green fees and buggy. Not cheap!

I shot a dismal 62 in the front nine (We played back to front, so this meant holes 10-18), having laid off golf for some months whilst being in the desert, and improved to a 52 in the back nine. The secret? Four curry puffs at the half-way hut aka Clubhouse!

Steamed bread at Tin Loong Suan, is this Hulu Bernam or Tanjung Malim?

The famed steam bread at Kalumpang near Tanjung Malim has been beaten by .... Kedai Kopi dan Arak Tin Loong Suan, at Hulu Bernam! Soft, fluffy, warm, with a generously large fresh-from-fridge-cold piece of butter :-) Enjoyed with a cuppa strong coffee, marvellous!

So, is this Hulu Bernam or TM? Selangor or Perak?
The answer ... is of course on Wikipedia's entry abt Tg Malim :-)
Around 1766, Perak Sultan Mahmud Shah crowned the Bugis prince Lumu as Sultan Salahuddin Shah to establish the Selangor Sultanate. Sungai Bernam is agreed as the natural border and this tiny village happens to be divided by it. Today, the Selangor side is known as Ulu Bernam while the Perak side is Tanjong Malim.

New KFC in town! Tanjung Malim

Nicely refurbished, renovated and re-built KFC in TM town :-) Yay!

Ah... Ice-cold Milo! Bliss :-)

Approx. RM$14 for bag of fries, two drumsticks, and two milos .... No one said that KFC was cheap these days, and it ain't. But what you get is THE BEST KFC original recipe in the world ... ever :-) We ordered a side helping of cheesy wedges, and as Anthony Bourdain and his brethen pointed out, this AIN'T real cheese :-)

I am glad D was well amused by his Delivery Boy toy, left his bro S with the Chicken Chef :-) with "action-omelette-pan"!
