Reem Island Cafe - January special offer Menu

Here is the super offer by Reem Island Cafe (Also known as Hans Restaurants) here in Abu Dhabi - 68 AED for 3 persons, or 108 AED for 5 persons.

We have enjoyed this twice so far - Food is great, and I don't think I could even find a tai-chau in Malaysia serving food at these prices!!

Hok Seng - Popular tai chau at Bukit Tinggi, Klang

Add: 19, 21 & 23, Lorong Batu Nilam 20A, Bandar Bukit Tinggi 2, Klang
Tel: +603 3324 5231
Here's another review: We lost count of how many times we went over a period of 1.5 weeks!

Excellent sweet and sour pork ... And perfectly cooked mantis shrimp in ham-tan (salted egg) too!

We always order the Ham Yue fah lam poh (Chinese bacon in salted fish) here ...

Always a good sign at a tai-chau ... when you find the stir-fried veges to have plenty of wok hei (Wok-fire!). The thai-style to-fu wasn't terribly spectacular though.

The beer here is reasonably priced too ... time to pay up!

Mantis shrimp in ham-tan (salted egg) ... and the uber delicious Hak Peh Pai Kuat (Guiness spare ribs). Yummmmms!

Hok Seng - Porky dishes in Bukit Tinggi, Klang

I enjoyed a ten day holiday recently back home for Chinese New Year, and bbG had noticed this restaurant in Bukit Tinggi, Klang. Its a big tai-chau with an open-air side (We prefer!) and an air-conditioned section. I had nearly forgotten I had eaten here 3 1/2 years ago!

A fantastic welcome home ... Sweet and sour pork, and Ham Yue Fah Lam Poh (Claypot and chinese bacon, with salted fish). Exquisite!

Washed down with some excellent Tiger beer ...

Together with these other 2 dishes, the total bill was only RM$80. A steal :-)
Kangkung belacan, and sizzling plate tofu. Delicious!

Oops, I forgot to get the address of Lucky Jade in Bandar Botanic, Klang once again. Its located near the Botanic Clinic, if that helps!

Good mango chicken ...

Well worth a visit, one of the best tai-chaus in the Bandar Botanic area, near Bukit Tinggi in Klang. Here's the ham yue fah lam poh (Salted fish with belly pork), and stir fried greens :-)

Nice new restaurant! Lucky Jade - Bandar Botanic, Klang

I believe Lucky Jade in Bandar Botanic, not far from AEON-Jusco, had just opened its doors some months ago ... It serves some really good tai-chau food!

Black and pepper pork - Excellent! A lotta wok-hei!

Stir fried veges ... Fresh, full of flavour, and RM$8 only.

Tit-pan Tau Foo, mmmmmmmmh :-) The egg, the gravy, the smooth to-fu on a hot-plate. Hard to beat!

Y and me had 4 dishes between us, and the bill was a reasonable RM$48. Gooooood food!

ps - The aunty propietor is quite eccentric and funny, she would never let you over-order, and you had better finish all the food! Heh heh ...

Hou Moon, Klang - One of our favourite restaurants!

Add: 34 & 36, Jalan Hip Hing, off Jalan Goh Hock Huat, Klang
Tel: +603 3343 0467
Opening hours: 9.30am - 3.30pm (Monday - Friday) ; 9.30am - 3.30pm & 6pm - 9pm (Saturday / Sunday). Closed on alternate Thursdays.

Founded in 1986, and having moved to the present location off Jalan Goh Hock Huat in Klang for the past 10 years, this place deserves the monicker of Institution. BRILLIANT!

We were given some hong tau sar as starters, hmmm isn't this normally for afters :-) Regardless, it was good! And we brought along a Jusco-sourced and great value Barton and Guestier Chardonnay Reserve 2007.

We like the simple tofu dish here :-) And, as always, no meal here would be complete without the excellent fried long beans and brinjal.

This (along with the roast duck) is what made Hou Moon so famous ... the Bentong-ginger infused steamed fish :-) Perfectly steamed.

Surprise! The assam fish was superb too ...
As many would know, I am not a big fan of fish, and to have ordered TWO varieties, speaks very highly of the quality of fish here. Delicious!

Ah... the old favourite, Hou Moon's excellent Roast Duck.

And finally, for afters... three slices (That's 3/4 of a whole fruit) of their remarkable Pineapple. Pukka!

Return to Wang Chiew, Seapark - SS2

Add: 30, Jalan SS2/103, PJ
Tel: +603 7722 3662

The rather incomparable Wang Chiew was our dinner venue late one evening ... Thanks to A and KT for joining us :-) Beermonster couldn't make it, alas...

Xiong tong Spinach ... bit of soup and vege. Ah ... nice!

Curry tofu ... another signature dish here. Yummy!

Pai kuat wong, always an excellent choice here!

Signature crayfish ... Not as good as on previous nights!

Do make reservations before-hand, you can see they have even prepared a sign that says "FULL" as they are on most nights!
