Silk & Spice - Unique Thai restaurant, Sofitel Abu Dhabi

Add: Sofitel Hotel, Corniche Road - Abu Dhabi.
Tel: +971 2 813 7777

A really nice looking Thai restaurant that's open through Ramadan, serves some good beers and the desserts are nice too. Must try the main courses next time!! We tried the Khao Neow Ma Muang (Mango with Stick Rice, the Silk&Spice variant is served in a candle-lit balti dish!), as well as the evergreen Tab Tim Krob (Water chestnut dumpling with Jack Fruit in Coconut milk). Both were good!

Tiger by the bottle .. Cheers!

Private dining area, Japanese-esque with your feet in a "hole in the floor"!

Fancy interior ... Not the most Thai-esque, but hey... looks good!

We had 2 desserts ;-) They were both good!

Busaba - Fantastic Thai food at BSC, KL

Add: F15, 1st Floor, Bangsar Shopping Centre, Bangsar, KL
Tel: +603 2093 7708
Located: Next to Alexis, BSC
Review: First visit to Busaba at BSC

Good service, beautiful decor, and wonderful food ... this is Busaba at Bangsar Shopping Centre :-) Careful with the tom-yam though, can be VERY spicy, but full of flavour! Our fave dish? The pomelo salad!

Tofu on sizzling plate is really good here, the otak-otak is acceptable (but only because its being compared with other first class dishes here!), the omelette was to die for ... and the kangkung belacan was good too.

The curries here are delicious too! There was even some ham-yue (salted fish) served along side ... slurps.

Busaba - Heavenly Thai, BSC Bangsar

Add: F15, 1st Floor, Bangsar Shopping Centre, Bangsar, KL
Tel: +603 2093 7708
Located: Next to Alexis, BSC

A large group of us, about 10 adults, had a great lunch meal in a private room at Busaba, and it was REALLY good :-) Came up to about RM$90 per head, but we did stuff ourselves!

The area outside the private room...

To quench my thirst ...

Moneybags and other Thai starters ... all delightful!

The ubiquitous Thai fish cake, and the most amazing Pomelo Salad ... divine!

Really spicy and varied types of tomyam on offer ... Packed full of punch and flavour!

We had multiple mains, including fish, grilled chicken, masaman curry (Best I have had!), beef and various veges too ... All were good!

The desserts did not dissapoint one bit ... we found space to have the best Tub Tim Krob (Crunchy pomegrenates, pink water chestnut in coconut milk and syrup topped with crushed ice), this side of Thailand! The mango and sticky (glutinous) rice was just average, but the rest of the food and setting was truly memorable. Brilliant!

Parazs Presszo - Thai Hungarian cuisine, Budapest

Google map: Click here for restaurant directions
Add: 1067 Budapest Szobi utca 4, Budapest, Hungary
Tel: +361 950 3770

Thanks to Zub and bbG for bringing me and my team to this Hungarian-Thai eatery!

Good beer ...

Nice dishes on the menu, at reasonable prices ... round about 15-20 Euros per head including a beer or two :-)

BUT ... beware, the service can be indifferent. To be safe, ask to speak to the Thai co-owner, she is much nicer! Thai? I chose Oihsi Green Tea from Thailand ...

Ah ... definitive Thai starter, Tom Yum Goong.

Chopsticks in Hungaria ...

Really good fried rice! Oops, Kao Pad I mean ...

My Pad Kaprao Moo Sarb ... pretty good!

Pad Thai was okie ...

Hey, its my Pad Kaprao again, this time without the rice ... told you the service was a little odd. They insisted we ordered it twice (I don't think so) ... but I was feeling generous, and had both portions :-)

Krabi Airport (KBV) serves up some decent Thai food!

Here're some facts I dug up about Krabi Airport or KBV, which is located 15km from the city-centre, could have sworn it felt a lot further then that!

Krabi Airport is a gateway to Thai beach resorts on Had Yao, Ao Nang, Rai Leh and Koh Lanta. Thai Airways operates daily direct flights from Bangkok, Air Asia from Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur. Tiger Airways flies direct to/from Singapore and Darwin.
Krabi Airport is conveniently located on the main highway - Route 4. New international terminal has been officially opened in 2006.

Anyway, here's our lunch before we flew off, don't forget to get some makan BEFORE you go through security scanning, otherwise you are stuck with Black Canyon Coffee! Seems this cafe is run by Thai Air, nice :-)

Our Tom Yum Koong, not cheap at 170 THB, but rather good!

My Pad kaprao (as always!) was really good...

Alas, the Pad Thai was too sweet, and rather poor!

Simple seafood restaurant in Krabi - Next door to Esan

Located: Next door to Esan Seafood, on the other side of the beach, past the tourist police.

Our online research showed that Esan was regularly recommended by locals as having excellent Thai food, serving a wide range of northern and southern specialities. However, it wasn't opened when we arrived for an early dinner, before 6pm on our last evening in Krabi. So we ate next door ...

Phew... glad they had Khao Niaow Ma Muang (Thai mango with sticky rice), our preferred dessert :-) Slurp, had to feature this first, though we had it last! Heh heh...

Simple is good!

Mmmh... another large bottle of Thai Heineken, fabulously chilled and much needed! 110 Baht? Well worth it!

The fish was recommended strongly, and despite it only costing 250 THB (About RM$25), we were slightly dissapointed as there was a slight bitter fishy taste to it. Nevertheless, the method of cooking with lime and other spices, including fish sauce I reckon, was good.

Pad Phak Luam - Glad I could still remember some Thai, stir fried mixed veges. We enjoyed this, full of "wok hei" or fire!

Best dish wasn't the Tom Yum Koong ...

But in fact turned out to be the Khai Yang (Grilled Chicken), simple tasty perfection!
ps. Overall, the meal came up to about the same price as the smaller dinner we had at Wangsai Seafood the night before. I would say the quality isn't as good as Wangsai, but its a close second :-)
