AND, we even found a delicious Otak wholesaler next door ... At least one can have otak-otak whilst waiting 20 minutes for one's prata!

What is it? A multi-level Ristorante Italiano with stone Terazza,with two-level dining outlet overlooks their 'open kitchen' that houses a wood fired pizza oven, pasta counter and rotisserei.
What does it overlook? The vibrant Bintang Walk
What did I have? Calzone pizza
What's that? A calzone is a pizza folded over to close the topping on the inside, and since it resembles a large sock in shape that's what it's called - the word calzone means sock in Italian!
Was it Good? Yum! Moist! Tasty!
What was the best? The tiramisu and the wine ... A 2000 Aussie Shiraz, slurp!

Whye Mun, Dave, Rhonna, Adrian and myself were at the Bandar Utama driving range tonight ... and I came home with not ONE but TWO Titleist WeatherSof GTX gloves!?

Then it was straight to dinner at the very delicious and fresh sea-food haven, Restoran Kebun Kelapa aka 'Yah Kah' in Pandamaran, Klang!
The damage? Tong-fun noodles = $10, Kai-lan = $10, Crab 'chilli/sweet-sour' style @ 1kg = $29, 'Begger' (Herbal / paper wrapped) chicken = $30, and Fresh-water prawns 'salt-style' = $37 ... Total including tea, peanuts, towels came up to a reasonable $129.90

Played a 9-hole round with Rhonna and Dave at Bandar Utama's The Club ... Scorching heat, great fun!

Thailand gift - 60 years on the throne

My colleague gave me a pretty cool gift, a 60 baht note commemorating the same number of years served on the throne by King Bhumibol Adulyadej. What is there that hasn't already been said about The King?
1) King Bhumibol is the world's longest-serving monarch.
2) King Bhumibol ascended the throne in 1946, after the mysterious death of his older brother.
3) He has reigned - holding few defined powers of his own - through 17 military coups, 20 different prime ministers, and 15 constitutions.
4) He has been relenting in his travels throughout Thailand earlier in his reign (and his strong personal interest in rural development increased his public profile and won him lasting admiration)
5) I used to have to stand up BEFORE a movie begins when-ever I went to the local Pattaya cinemas, to acknowledge all that the King has done (items 1-4 above)!

I had a mixed selection of starters (I didn't even take photos of the salmon, amazing foie grais and scallops), and for mains it was the tong-sing garoupa (steamed ala chinese @ RM$30/100g) followed by the fantastic apple-crumble with homemade ice-cream. To wash it all down, the $35 a glass Green Tree Yara Valley chardonay was perfect!

Yes, I have the dreaded sniffles aka cold aka selsema aka need-a-day-to-rest-hence-the-MC ...

MC = Medical Certificate
Rest = Eating organic food (Nasi lemak with sarawak brown rice, and sizzling noodles with organic egg and organic chicken, and organic this and that) ... and watching the latest DVDs!

and the noodles were similarly priced too.

Restoran Village Chicken v home-cooked chicken rice

I think mum's chicken rice was actually better! But overall a good dinner (but for my cold! Yes, I have the dreaded sniffles, thank goodness for them drugs and being able to sleep-in) at Restoran Village Chicken, with nice sambal prawns and good 'chicken rice' rice.
