On a recent stay-over in KL, bbG took me to the legendary Meng Kee ...

Three of the pillars of good chicken rice ... Chilli and Rice... and Steamed Chicken too of course. I found the chilli to be good, the rice to be reasonably good, and the chicken to be smooth and succulent. Pretty darn good!



A friend once described a tasty vege diet ... Have Taugeh ... with Charsiew :-) NICE! Wasn't particularly impressed by the Char Siew, perhaps the cut we got was a little lean. I prefer Spring Golden, in Shah Alam ... bliss! The Taugeh on the other hand was blanched perfectly, bravo!


The definitive makan blog, Masak-masak says it best ... The test is always in the taste and one must admit that the char siu isn't as great as long ago - no melt in the mouth stickiness taste I look for and the cut they gave me was way too lean (even though I asked for half fat/half meat). Honestly, the Glenmarie version is much better, if one has to pick between the two outlets.

Me and 4 Oldham bros (Some of which hadn't seen each other in TWO DECADES!) picked this local restaurant for a special pre-event meal one evening ... Well, mom and dad picked the restaurant, and we showed up!

Imbi Palace - We like the timsum here!

We like Imbi Palace in KL for many reasons, one of which is ... The Tim Sum!

Mmmh ... the rice dishes are good too, here is the Yung Zhou fried rice, REALLY GOOD! And the Lor Mai Kai is one of the best around ;-)

It had been many years since my uni buddies (and their little ones!) would have met up with me, so we chose a "Malaysian-y" restaurant for this meeting. Boy did I pick the WRONG restaurant!

Food was so blah ... Cooked without passion, and the service was terrible. There were many staff members, but they didn't seem to pay attention to any of the clients!

The Pie-T's at Chicken Rice Shop are even better then at this eatery ... Eeep!

The noodle dishes were equally poor!

Don't know why we bothered ... but we wanted to give it one more go, but blah ... the desserts were equally poor.

Really good Yang Zhou fried rice, bbG approves of it ... and I quite like my "Hokkien style fried Spaghetti" too!

I love being home in Klang!

Whether its Wah Chai (Bukit Tinggi, Klang) Wan Tan Mee for breakfast ...

Or a home-cooked meal at mum's for dinner ...

Or breakfast the morning after at Klang Jaya ...

... Klang is where the heart is :-)

Signature dish 1 ... Divine siew yoke!


Signature dish 2 ... Superb char siew!


Signature dish 3 ... Fish :-) with ginger ... or fish with assam gravy! I guarantee you, you will see one on just about EVERY table in the restaurant. Its that good!

Signature dish 4 ... The best fruit :-) You must try their excellent Pineapple for dessert!

With Chrismas season here, many people around the world are debating whether to cut or not to cut down a live Christmas tree or whether to use a real or plastic Christmas tree. Well, a departmental chainstore in Malaysia has come up with an eco-friendly idea for a Christmas tree. AEON Co. (M) Bhd recently unveiled their 15m (50ft) tall Christmas Tree on December 7th, 2009 during a special tree-lighting ceremony at the AEON Bukit Tinggi Shopping Centre in Klang.
This tree is constructed from recycled plastic bottles collected from customers during the recent Recycling Bottles Campaign that was conducted in September. AEON collected 15,000 plastic bottles in the process. Encouraged by the success, AEON decided to continue the its eco-friendly campaign by celebrating a Green Christmas for 2009.
This unique tree will be competing for a spot in the Malaysian Book of Records.
