Loh Sang 2 @ Port Klang Yacht Club
Dinner (Halal Chinese food) was rather good ... nice hot tom yum soup to kick off the meal after the tasty Loh Sang ... then a whole string of dishes including a yummy Hot and Sour Fried Fish with Mango slices on the top. The steamed trio-of-egg was good too!

Pandamaran Chinese New Year pasar malam
From the look of the busy stalls and number of patrons, its a bargain!
Focused most of our attention on biccies, yumm...
This GIANT pineapple caught my attention, I asked how much the 4 foot tall pineapple decoration is ... only RM$45. Great value!
Pandamaran .. Prawn Mee (Dry variety)
Interesting prawn mee variant, the dry type! Served with a bowl of spicy prawn mee broth.
And they also serve a simple minced meat variant of kon loh mee, beware of the little chilli padi lurking between the strands of noodles though!
There is little lighting at this place, here is a shot sans flash!

Yuen Garden Tim Sum, Puchong - Great find!
How about the evergreen Concorde Hotel's Xin? But I do like the exquisite nature of the tim sum dishes at Shanghai in the Marriott, Starhill? But I had tried both of them ... Hmm, perhaps the award winning Li Yen at Ritz Carlton in KL?
Sigh, each of the above don't open their doors to the public until 11am or 12noon at the earliest, and the thought of paying the + + + surcharges didn't work too much in their favour!
So ... Lianne's blog came to the rescue!
We met up with Jack who was visiting from Ipoh, and it was great that he too had a Tim Sum Craving this morning ... Look out for the IOI Mall at Puchong, across from the LDP, and you will find a packed eatery called Yuen Garden!
Add: Restoran Yuen Garden Dim Sum , Jalan Kenari 18 , Bandar Puchong Jaya , PUCHONG
Tel: +603 8076 3818
OK, a change from my usual wham bam style of blogging, and time to be philosophical!
Lianne was just discussing about her friend's blog and how 'he pondered on how does one classify a good dimsum. Well, upon reading that, I pondered myself but decided to drop a comment anyway and I said ... I guess you will know if the dimsum is good or not when you meet the right one'
For me, good tim sum is more technical ... it has to meet a few simple taste criterias!
1) Freshness (All! especially the prawn-y ones!)
2) Flakiness (The pastry ones, such as Woo Kok or Char Siew Soh)
3) Not starchy (For the ones with 'skins' eg Chee Cheong Fun and Har Kao)
AND, a good tim sum place WILL do the basic dishes VERY RIGHT ... Here are the ten dishes!
(1) Char Siew Soh - Good, but could be served warmer (This will be a recurring theme of this restaurant, perhaps it was simply cos' there were TOO many patrons!)
(2) Pei Tan Sau Yoke Porridge - Tasty!
(3) Chee Cheong Fun - Decent, but hardly hot enough!
(4) Char Siew Pao - The dissapointment :-(
(5) Woo Kok - Tasty, but should be piping hot!
(6) Siew Mai - Fresh pork and prawns, what a combo..
(7) Har Kao - Excellent! The prawns were just bursting out!
These two dishes was Yuen Garden's signature dishes, and it certainly lived up to its reputation, fresh, tasty and really excellent! I forgot for a second I was at a 'kopitiam' and was transported into the quality realms of Concorde Hotel and Westin!

(8) Steamed Pork Ribs 'Pai Kuat' - Not spectacular
(9) Steamed brinjal - Average
And no tim sum meal would be complete without ...
(10) Tarn Tat aka Egg Tart - Good!
The basic ten dishes were done well, generally very fresh, not 'porky' in smell, and delicious. Well done! Yes, I'll most certainly be back!
Other dishes ordered ...
(11) Hor Yip Fan (Lotus rice) - Poor
(12) Lor Mai Kai (Glutinous rice) - Yummy
(13) Yeong Lat Chew (Green - or you can have red - Chilli with fish insert) - Pretty decent
(14) Roll with Seaweed - Not bad
(15) Fried prawn dumpling with Mayo - Decent too!
As always, we had fun!

Best Char Kuay Teow this side of Malaysia!
One of the best Tai-chows you'd find in town!
Duh ... interesting sight at the side of the kopitiam ... for all to see ... the 'sacs' used for the sausage or 'cheong'!
This is the cheong :-) which was yummy, as was the char-siew! A simple variant of char-siew, not overpoweringly sweet, but good. The gravy/sauce was yummy, cooked over a charcoal fire!
I wasn't overly impressed by the duck or accompanying veges...
The Char Siew is served in RM$4.50 portions (by weight), and it was tiny ... so we ordered a second round!
A little lesson from the restauranteur who was in her mid-70s ... Let you in on a little secret ... some of the most charred / burnt / chao-tah bits of the char-siew is ALSO the yummiest! Eat in moderation, and enjoy ;-)

Jenga @ Dessert's in Mont Kiara
Good ol' Wikipedia ...
Jenga is a game of physical and mental skill, marketed by Hasbro, in which players remove blocks from a tower and put them on top.
The word jenga is derived from kujenga, the Swahili verb "to build";
jenga! is the imperative form.
Jenga is played with 54 wooden blocks; each block is 3 times as long as it is wide, and slightly smaller in height than in width.
The blocks are stacked in a tower formation; each story is three blocks placed adjacent to each other along their long side, and each story is placed perpendicular to the previous (so, for example, if the blocks in the first story are pointing north-south, the second story blocks will point east-west).
There are therefore 18 stories to the Jenga tower. Since stacking the blocks neatly can be tedious, a plastic loading tray is included.
Once the tower is built, the person who built the tower moves first.
Moving in Jenga consists of taking one and only one block from any story except the completed top story of the tower at the time of the turn, and placing it on the topmost story in order to complete it.
Only one hand at a time may be used to remove a block; both hands can be used, but only one hand may be on the tower at a time.
Blocks may be bumped to find a loose block that will not disturb the rest of the tower.
Any block that is moved out of place may be left out of place if it is determined that it will knock the tower over if it is removed.
The turn ends when the next person to move touches the tower, although he or she can wait 10 seconds before moving for the previous turn to end.
The game ends when the tower falls in any significant way -- in other words, any piece falls from the tower, other than the piece being knocked out to move to the top.
The loser is the person who made the tower fall (i.e. whose turn it was when the tower fell);
the winner is the person who moved before the loser.
The game in its current form was invented in the 1980s by Leslie Scott. It grew out of a childhood game created around a present of wooden building blocks purchased from a local wood craftsman in Ghana.

Bar SaVanh Too, Mont Kiara
Bar SaVanh Lounge & Restaurant has spread its wings across town from the notorious Asian Heritage Row to the increasingly popular joint of Mont Kiara. Having been a subsisting fan of Bar SaVanh, I had mixed feelings towards the recent opening of its other door, better known as Bar SaVanh Too. Well, at least the name’s pretty cute.
How do you reproduce the charismatic air and vintage demeanor of an Indochinese Peninsula rainforest, especially when the first Bar SaVanh has done it so well?
So there I was at Plaza Mont Kiara with this teensy fear of feeling incredibly disappointed. Its exterior was almost unrecognizable; a relaxed, clean dining experience with white furniture and some foliage. But the sight of the stone warriors guarding the front doors tells me I’m at the right place. It was a complete transformation upon entrance, like your world spinning on an axis and sucking you into a parallel world. Lost is the sanitary sense of its exterior and gained is the majestic feel of, well, Bar SaVanh."
The Chinese New Year decorations have been put up ... nice!

The first dish, simple Pork stir-fried in Pepper was exquisite ... so full of fire and taste! Mmmmmh!

The Stir fried Por Choy (Vege) and Sizzling Plate tofu were nearly as yummy.
The restaurant's signature dish didn't dissapoint ... We had 8 mantis shrimps, fried in salt and pepper. So yummy! It does take some patience to eat though, use your fingers!

Yau Yat Kar, Economy Rice @ Bukit Tinggi, Klang
Good tasty dishes (I had baked beans, steamed egg, cabbage, pork with ginger, sweet and sour pork, minced pork with chilli - you get the drill, I love pork!), a can of 100 Plus to get over the hangover, and free 'soup of the day' - All for under RM$10.

Tel: +603 2117 4888
Here's the ONLY write-up I could find of this latest joint in KL, from Faces.com ... Duh, dunno what an 'Ultra Club' is!
Trendsetters and clubbers have a brand new venue to be seen and heard at the new club in Grand Millenium - Pulse the Ultra Club.
Located in the heart of the city, Pulse is Kuala Lumpur's first Ultra Club with an all-in-one chill-out and entertainment concept ¨C guests have the option of enjoying the cool ambience of the Club's al fresco section, or unwind and groove in the bar and lounge area to pulsating dance beats from a lineup of international bands and celebrity DJ's.
Overlooking the lively cafes and street life of Jalan Bukit Bintang, Pulse features one of the largest single malt collections in KL alongside a cigar lounge for connoisseurs. For those with a penchant for something a little more intimate, there is the up-market, first-of-its-kind Champagne Lounge that offers private dining and entertainment facilities within the Club.
Pulse Ultra Club's current mainstay is international R&B band Common Culture, performing nightly from 10.30pm, except Mondays.
From 5.00pm to 9.00pm daily and all night long on Sundays, it's De-Stress Hour at KL's hottest new hangout ¨C featuring 1 for 1 drinks (all drinks except full bottles) and draught beer for only RM19++.
Anyway back to my visit ... Here were out first drinks of the night, before the roll out of the Macallans ... A Scotty girl champagne cocktail (Damn strong! RM$55 ++) and a Long Island Tea (Prefer the one at Zeta and Shang ... RM$30 ++).
Anyway, found the place to be excellent! Great live band (Zeta should have hired these guys, so much better then Zeta's current 'live' and unenthusiastic band), pumping out the tunes from the 80s, 90s and more recent stuff like Justin Timberlake too ... a bottle of Macallan was competitively priced compared to Zeta ... good attentive service ... and a crowd which was fun but not overly rowdy. Must return again!

Here's my previous write-up when I ate solo the night before !
After shopping at the Divers Den Annual sale, our Dive Gang ventured to Damansara Jaya for some dinner ...
I was so impressed with the service and quality of food, as well as the good value the night before, I had to re-visit Cinta Ria @ DJ! The restauranteur, Christine, had recommended the Caesar's Salad with home-made dressing (RM$8.90) the night before ... and it was WOW!

I was so busy scoffing down the salad that I didn't have a chance to re-take the photos of the Soup of the Day (Cream of Mushroom @ RM$3.90) - which was as exquisitely tasty and chunky as the night before!
Bring on the mains!...
Baked Lasagna (RM$9.90) - Surprisingly healthy with little oiliness which is normally associated with this dish, and tasty too!
Here's my NASI LEMAK (RM$5.90 only - bargain!) , which was also one of the recommended dishes by Christine. EXCELLENT! Flavoursome sambal and chicken curry, but not too 'heavy'. Real good!
Slightly dissapointing, the NZ Lamb Chop (at a surprisingly low price of RM$12.90), as this was a tad over-cooked... but still it was beautifully marinated with herbs.
I didn't try the Fish and Chips (RM$8.90) but it sure looked light and tasty!
Finally, Vincent's dish ... RM$11.90 of Grilled Chicken magic. As fantastic and succulent as the night before!
Christine was so kind to give us some ice-cream to wash down the meal ...
Satisfied customers!

Cinta Ria @ DJ was opened a month ago ... and I was immediately impressed by the polite and attentive service.
Add: 78 Jalan SS22/25, Damansara Jaya
Tel: +603 7726 8981
I first had the 'Soup of the Day' which happened to be mushroom. Every bite was chunky, and the creamy texture was perfectly balanced ... not too thick, and certainly not runny. Nice! And excellent value at RM$3.90 too. Even the garlic bread was good, tasted chunky bits of garlic, perhaps home made I reckon. Did I mention the soup arrived promptly?
I had a mug of Green Tea with this, again good value at RM$2.
I was now eagerly waiting for the mains ... and it certainly didn't dissapoint, arriving under 5 minutes after the soup. The Grilled Chicken (RM$11.90 - signature dish of Cinta Ria @ DJ!) was full of herbs and flavour, and succulent, smooth and juicy. Divine!

I can't wait to return again, to sample the Special Nasi Lemak, Roasted Chicken, and Homemade dressing on their Caesars Salad. Till then ... I'll be back!
A parting shot from the car park as I was driving off ...
Ample parking at night, not to worry!

Victoria Station - Steak dinner with Bunny @ Damansara Heights
Tel: +603 2094 9406
Over the years, I had always wanted to try out Victoria Station, but succumbed to brand loyalty and 'I know its good, so I am going back' Jakes Charbroiled Steaks next door!
But Bunny ... oops, Jan, was in town ... so I thought we would give Victoria Station a go!
To start ... French Onion soup (Nice and thick, yummy!) , and Russian Borsch (Not so good, more like tomato soup, lacked uuumph!)
On to the mains ... bring on the steaks!
Prime Rib (Medium @ RM$43) : Too much sauce, was actually drowning in the stuff ... meat lacked texture.
Rib-eye (Medium-rare @ RM$43) : Juicy and rather good
Thanks for the lovely treat, great catching up as always!
ps - Some history from the Victoria Station website ...
"We started out well over a decade ago from Station Damansara, our first flag station. Not long later, came Station Ampang, Station USJ, Station PJ and up north to two stations in Penang - Station Bayan Baru and Station Seberang Jaya. We hope our extensions will bring us closer to you, making it more convenient for you to savor our servings. "

Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations - Steamed Fish, KL!
Makes me chuckle thinking that I met the same smiley-faced-chef, and ate at the same place with the sheet metal fabrication factories alongside ...
Best of all the chef, just like he did on No Reservations, constantly whacked the wok-covers of his steamers with his thongs. The cacophony of noises alongside the factories adjacent ... simply marvelous. Just adds to the flavour of the delicious steamed fish!
Steamed Fish ala Anthony Bourdain, off Chan Sow Lin, KL
Yes! Its a little steam fish eatery! This was actually recommended by Anthony Bourdain when he was in Kuala Lumpur, in 2007 ...
Service was friendly, we even shared jokes with the hard-working Chef who singlehandedly controlled his kitchen ... and the Cheong Cheng Fish (Gravy Steamed Fish) was immaculately prepared. Perfectly steamed, and full of flavour. Bravo!
Chicken feet is not exactly my cuppa tea, but my partner in crime said it was deeeelicious. The stir fried veges were good though!
All this for not much more then RM$30. Superb!

As recommended by Anthony Bourdain on No Reservations ...
"At The Place Under The Big Tree, ambiance is not the top concern. Here, the focus is on quality food. Two giant, freshwater grass carp heads double steamed and sauced with brown bean paste, anis and curry. Sometimes you find the best food in the most unusual places. This magnificent meal--and right next door they're banging away on steel and adjusting shocks."
Address ... Jalan 3, off Jalan Chan Sow Lin, along Sungai Besi, KL.
Directions? Duh ... hmm, perhaps best to ask Swedish Marque (Volvo) along Sungai Besi, as that is located on 5-7 Jalan Dua, off Jalan Sungai Besi, which is one road away from this 'Place under the Big Tree'! To get there, if you are coming from the LDP, heading towards the NKVE toll in Damansara, keep left and turn into Damansara Jaya/Atria Shopping Centre,
go straight all the way passing one traffic light, you will pass a Projet Station on your left hand side.
U turn at the traffic light after Pro Jet and take the first left and an immediate right. Drive towards this restaurant called Damansara Village which is also another seafood restaurant. Take a left and drive straight down the road.
You will pass by wooden houses and factories and cross a bridge.
After this, you will come to a cross-road and see the Pantai Seafood sign, take a right and then an immediate left into the restaurant.
Parking is ample at the restaurant.
Our dinner party kept growing until the table was maxed out at 15 ... dunno why I was Miss Julian that night though!?
My favourite dish ... the Kailan prepared in 2 styles (braised and deep fried). So good, we ordered it twice!
Bring on the rest of the seafood ... Fresh prawns, Lala in Stock (again, we ordered this twice ... there were 15 of us after all!), Kung Poh Snail/Escargot, and Deep fried Calamari.
A freshly steamed Patin in Superior Soya Sauce was next ...
Of course we ordered some meats too ... bring on the pork!
Sweet and Sour Pork (not so good ... a little soggy, Chow Yang in SS2 is loads better), and Deep Fried Pork Knuckle.
And there was also the yummy Tofu with Otak (Signature Tofu of Pantai Seafood!).
And the 'signature dishes' .... Marmite Crab , and Ham Tan (Salted egg) Crab.
To finish off the meal, some stir fried noodles.
Hmm, which is the Macallans? Black Label? Chinese Tea!?

This restaurant was opened in mid-2007 (the one in SS2 has been around for a year and a half longer), and here is an excerpt of a The Star writeup...
"Restaurateur Freddy Low's involvement in the organic food business came after some opportune reading in a book on alkaline and acid.
“In that article, I learnt that people who had too much acidity in their bodies often fell sick. It piqued my interest and I did some research to gather more information... "
Anyway, I simply wanted a hot cuppa tea, and decided to stop by here ... Had some organic chinese tea (RM$2 each), along with...
Seaweed (Under RM$5 for 3 small packs) - Not bad!
And some .. uh ... weird rice cracker (Under RM$4) ... tastes like uh ... bland! Nothing!? Never mind, I am sure some people would have enjoyed it!
Next time, I wanna try the rather popular ajoining restaurant which serves organic cuisine of your favourite dishes eg BKT and Hokkien Mee!
Green House - Thai food, Subang SS18
The service can be a little unreliable (Speak slowly with the waiters!), but be patient... and you will be rewarded with some of the finest Thai food I have had in Malaysia!
First 2 dishes EXCELLENT - Beef with Basil and Chilli, and Ginger Chicken.
Then came equally good Mixed Tomyam (I would have said it was good - but the prawns were 'squidgy' and soft ... hmm NOT fresh!?) , Pad Thai (Simple - surprisingly good!), and Pineapple Fried Rice (great comfort food!). All in all, good! Will definitely make a return visit, and all for under RM$50 with 2 glasses of green tea.

Tunes Hotel, KL
Article from The Star on 27th April 2007 ...
Tune Hotels.com, which opens its flagship “no-frills” hotel today, aims to take advantage of the growing budget hotels segment to push its expansion plans in the future.
It said in a statement budget hotels had registered up to 90% occupancy rates following the booming budget airlines industry, where players offered aggressive promotions.
The hotel offers 173 single and double rooms, where guests are given an option for add-on amenities like soap, towel and air-conditioner. Automated teller machine services, an Internet room and currency exchange services will also be made available.
Tune Hotels.com teamed up with strategic partners Pensonic Holdings Bhd, Nippon Paint (M) Sdn Bhd and Johnson Suisse (M) Sdn Bhd for various outfitting items. Rooms are secure, with chip-card access and extensive CCTV cameras placed throughout the premises.
Best mah keok in town? Quite possibly!

Yut Kee - An institution in KL, visited for the first time
Add: 35, Jalan Dang Wangi, KL
Tel : +603 2298 8108
I was so very excited about visiting this institution in Kuala Lumpur ... I was impressed by the authenticity of the place, round marble tables and wooden chairs ala a kon-loh mee coffeeshop that my dad and grandma used to take me to in Klang. Nostalgia ... There was a cool menu to welcome us as well, with lots of yummy stuff ... hmm what should I eat!??
What is Hainanese style western cuisine?
In colonial Malaysia, or Malaya as it was known, many westeners employed Hainan domestic help and chefs in their homes ... hence the fusion between Hainanese and Western cuisine, culminating in ... Hainanese Chicken Chop!
I was a little dissapointed, as I thought the overall presentation was a little flat, but the chicken was rather tasty. Just too soggy, I reckon, and I do prefer the one at 99 Steak and Chops in Taman Tun Dr Ismail.
Would you believe Yut Kee draws its heritage way back to the 1920s. The current owner is a gentleman by the name of Jack Lee. But it was his son whom I saw behind the till, frantically but efficiently controlling the 'show'! I have to say the service is efficient, quick, and pleasant.
Anyway, on to dish two ... Much MUCH better. Roti babi! Not the most PC (politically correct) name on the menu, but certainly deserves its place in the institutions of gluttony in Kuala Lumpur. Excellent, but I hear that there may be better variants in someone's Hainanese household ... hmm, left to be seen (oops, eaten!).
We were greedy ... also ordered the Belacan Fried Rice. This was a tad soggy, and dissapointing. Too hot, not enough flavour :-(
As was the much talked about marble cake which we had for dessert ... a little soggy, overly sweet, not my favourite cake.
Overall, it was an interesting experience. Maybe I had my expectations a little too lofted ... nevertheless, this blogger HAS finally made it to Yut Kee!
Views from the carpark where I parked my car ... How appropriate, KL's most famous monuments/buildings alongside one of her eating institutions!
Growing old is mandatory ...

WIP at Bangsar Shopping Centre
BSC or Bangsar Shopping Centre may not be as 'in' as BV2 or Pavilion or Gardens at Mid-Valley etc... but it still exudes a charm and loyalty that is only second to perhaps Jaya Supermarket at Section 14, PJ. There are only a few eateries here, Alexis, Chilis, Coca, La Bodega, Montes, Spring Hatsuhana Japanese, The Ming Room ... and now WIP, but they all range from good to very good.
WIP is located at G111 on the Ground Floor.
Tel: +603 2094 1789
This joint is operated by the same people who started 7ate9 and Souled Out. I recognised the man behind the bar immediately as the ex-manager of 7ate9, and said hi. The drinks here were as good ... nice Guinness on tap, and the Lychee Martini with a twist of Pandan was rather good too.
I arrived in time to share some of the gals' Pepperoni Pizza. Excellent!
The indian cuisine - Chicken tikka/tandoori, and Garlic Nan with spinach dip, was EVEN better!
The lamb kebab was dissapointing though, too dry, too small, and lacking in flavour.
Overall, very good. Stick to the indian dishes and the pizza... and its just a great place to chill out after a (short) week at work :-)
Loong Kee, Jalan Pahang in KL
Post Velvet suppertime ... yum yum. Click here for a previous review of Loong Kee along Jalan Pahang
Really good Lam Mee (the type one takes with vinegar) ... and the Hokkien Mee was rather good too. So was the Roast Pork fried with Bitter Gourd. A good start!
These weren't so good ... fried sotong, and the rather bland Lam Yee Pork Ribs. I prefer the variant at Jalan Alor's W.A.W.
All this for RM$81, enough to feed the 5 of us. Thanks for the treat, Endee!
Ps. The Char Siew Pau turned out to only be so-so ... tried it cos' it was supposed to be 'previously famous in the old days'!
Velvet, Zouk ... its Mambo nite!
Would you believe it ... first to arrive, 9.40pm. They didn't let us in till 10.05pm!
So, we cam-whored a bit ...
First thing, we checked the authenticity of the alcie ... hmmm?
Party party party :-)
The DJ booth ... the 2nd pic shows what happened when the power cut off, NO MUSIC! But the Zouk guys got it back up and running in minutes, well done!
We were gonna go across to Zouk Main Room for 'Mambo Jambo' aka 80s-90s tunes, but the R&B and Hip Hop was so good in Velvet we stayed there all nite ... till 2am!? Nitezzz....

Mini Oldham Hall reunion ... Parkroyal's Chatz Brasserie, KL
So ... why the swank location for some late lunch?
(1) Jack was running a fever, and didn't want to have oiley street style food. ARRGH!
(2) It was the first time since Jack's wedding in 2002 that we had gotten together ... sort of like a mini Oldham Hall reunion!
Five years on ... this is Eugene, Vincent, Jack and myself!
The food was rather poor I have to say ... RM$140 bought us a couple of coffees, and the following ... Caesar salad with chicken (my choice - possibly the only decent item we ordered! Hmmm, there was more chicken then salad!? That's OK!!) , Prawn Mee (Vincent's - he didn't make much of a comment, must have been bad!), Chicken Rice (Eugene's - Vocally described it as bland and tasteless!), and Jack had - Cream of Mushroom and a non descript Greek-style pita roll. Uh ....
The service was also terribly slow, and the waiters struggled to understand our requests. Maybe it was cos' we were laughing out so loud!
I still gave the place a chance to serve its very famous Marble Cheese Cake (From the days of Regent Hotel) ... it was rather good. But not much better then Secret Recipe's!
Anyway ... great to catch up with my Oldham Hall bros again. Has it been EIGHTEEN years since we lived together in Oldham Hall at Asimont Lane, Singapore? It certainly has ...

W221 S300L ... majestic Merc
Paultan.org , my favourite local resource for motoring news describes ...
DaimlerChrysler Malaysia launched the latest variant of it’s W221 S-Class in June 2007 - the Mercedes Benz S300L, with the L denoting a long wheelbase model.
The name S-Class is derived from the German word Sonderklasse, which means special class. And it is a car that will make you feel special indeed, as this S300L base model costs a cool RM639,888 on the road without insurance.
The S300L model is likely the model that most S-class buyers would buy in Malaysia, judging from the amount of S280 models on the road from the previous generation. The S300L takes the place of the S280 in DCM’s S-Class model line-up here. It is powered by a Mercedes Benz 3.0 liter V6 engine with a high 11.3:1 compression, putting out 231 horsepower and 300Nm of torque from a low RPM of 2,500.
Fiery Kitchen, KL (Want some organic fish?)
Add: Gourmet Concepts Sdn Bhd
110 Jalan Pudu, Ground Floor & 1st Floor, KL.
Tel: +603 2026 9396
Found out from the propietor Brandon Tan, who hails from Singapore, that this eatery only opened about half a year ago ... nice menu of seafood and other comfort foods, prepared by a local chef.
Some exotic tea to start off... Serene Garden (RM$9.90),
and a cuppa Hot Lemon Honey (RM$2.90).
My favourite mains was the Tri Colour Steam Egg (RM$10 - pei tan, ham tan, and normal egg - perfectly steamed, tasty, and o' so smooth) ... The deep fried kailan leaves was a little bland (RM$12 - I prefer the one at Pantai Seafood Damansara )
Also tried the Special Ribs (RM$15) and Nestum Chicken ($15) - Both were good, nice and tasty. But I think I would prefer Nestum crumbs with prawns. Meal was reasonably priced at RM$73 for the two of us.
When we asked Brandon about his kitchen's influence, he said mainly Singaporean but generally anything around the region. This was reflected in the dishes which we enjoyed.
BUT, we didn't have his 'signature' Singapore Fish Head Steamboat ala Teo-chew. Gotta try that next time!
Then he told us about ...
Organic fish!
Singapore office - 52 Telok Blangah Road, #03-03 Telok Blangah House, Singapore
Tel: +65 6377 3087
Seems they have a fish farm, using the latest organic techniques, based out of Kuching, Sarawak. Using a humane technique to cull the fish, they are immediately gutted, and individually frozen packed. High-tech! This is a barramundi which he showed us ...
We'll certainly be back for the Fish head Steamboat and Jade Perch next time round ...
KL Tower
Wikipedia ...
The Kuala Lumpur Tower (officially known as Menara Kuala Lumpur; referred later as KL Tower) is a tall tower located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and was built in 1995. It is used for communication purposes and features an antenna that reaches 421 m (1,381 ft), which currently makes it the fifth tallest tower in the world. The roof of the pod is at 335 m (1,099 ft).
The rest of the tower below has a stairwell and an elevator to reach the upper area, which also contains a revolving restaurant, providing diners a beautiful view of the city. Races are organised yearly where participants race up the stairs to the top.
The construction of the KL Tower which began on October 1991, was a 3-phase process. The first phase was the widening of Jalan Punchak and the excavation of soil from the construction site. This phase went on until 15 August 1992.
On 6 July 1992, the second phase began with the construction of the foundation and basement of the tower. Approximately 50,000 cubic meters of concrete were continuously poured for 31 hours thus setting a record in the Malaysian construction industry. The foundation work, requiring no piling, was completed by 15 April 1993.
The third phase was the construction of the 'superstructure' which began in May 1993. The tedious construction of the tower started with the erection of the tower shaft, then the tower head. As the finishing touches to the tower head were being done, the construction of the touristic building began.
SMART car ... Klang
MCC smart (formerly GmbH smart) is a brand of microcars and superminis of Daimler AG based in Böblingen, Germany. It is marketed as the "smart" in all lower case, as in the logo. The current smart brand logo denotes a C for "Compact" and an arrow for "forward thinking".
The name of the company, part of Daimler AG, was changed from "Smart GmbH" to "Smart GmbH Micro Compact Car GmbH " in September 2002. It was merged with Mercedes-Benz Cars in 2007.
The original idea behind the very short "smart car" was that the vehicle would be easy to park. It is short enough to allow it to be parked "nose-in" where a conventionally sized car would have to parallel park. Its length of 2.5 metres (98.4 in) equals the width of a regular parking slot, allowing two or three smarts to park in the same space as one normal car if parked side-on to the usual parking direction.

Today's BKT turned out a wee bit too thick, but the rice was as fragrant as ever. And piping hot from the kitchen, fish-cakes and agadeshi tofu ... Nice! The tamagi (egg omellette) wasn't so good though, Rakuzen's is still better.

Food turned out to be below-par, normally it is quite excellent in this branch of Imbi Palace ... but the har-kow was overcooked, the chee cheong fun poorly presented. The fu-chok kuen was good though.
Service was poor!
1) Whilst the restaurant may have been rather busy, Overseas Imbi and the likes of the Pandamaran hawker I recently went to, did so much better in terms of promptness and not forgetting one's order.
2) We waited over 20 minutes for my cold mango-pomello dessert, it only had to be taken out of the fridge, and brought to our table which was near the kitchen... Tsk tsk!
3) The facial expressions on the frustrated waiters and waitresses, as well as the 'captains' was clear for all to see ... Guess they certainly crack under pressure!
The good ...
The mediocre ...
The poor and overcooked! ...
The one I waited a looooong time for ... average tasting only!
