Why is this place SPECIAL?
1) Superb customer service, Betty and Mr Le, are fantastic hosts, who are incredibly passionate about their baking.

Shui Kee @ Jalan Alor & 7atenin9 @ Ascott

24th November 2006

Dinner at Jalan Alor's Shui Kee, Kuala Lumpur
Lah-lah (Kam Hiong Style), Seafood Tomyam, and Grilled Sting-ray 'Ikan bakar'
What we say ... "Mediocre! Lah-lah was reasonable, Tomyam was very hot, and Fish texture was just too firm"

Drinks at 7atenin9 (Ascott KL)
The Ascott, 9 Jalan Pinang, 50450 Kuala Lumpur
Telephone +603 21627789
Lychee Martinis, and Wolf Blass Shiraz & CM Cabarnet Merlot ... Phillip was there again, and was his usual merry self, pity there wasn't room around the bar until we were about to leave, but we weren't tempted to indulge in one of his super concoctions any further!
It was choc-a-bloc (packed!) in 7atenin9 tonight as it the A1 Grand Prix folk were celebrating there. We were sat across the A1-NL (Netherlands) crew, who had some pretty glamourous hanger-ons! Anyway, here's a pic of some free passes we got ... that we certainly aren't gonna use!

Ps. Noticed these kewl chairs in 7atenin9!

Chandelier, Taman Seputeh PJ

Located between KL and PJ, along the Federal Highway leading to Mid Valley Mall.
It is actually surrounded between Bukit Seputeh (which leads to KL), and Taman Seputeh (leads to PJ and Mid Valley).

Makan? We enjoyed a really good Caesars Salad with Grilled Chicken to start, followed by 3 mains of BBQ Baby Back Ribs (Mmmmmm! This is after all one of their signature dishes), Garoupa (Good!), and Spaghetti Marinara (Good too!). We then shared a Venetian Banana (how do I describe it? Sort of like a folded-over Banana pancake!) which was nice as well. All washed down with a jug or three of Tiger(On sale ... 3 jugs @ RM$105!).

Damage? Just shy of $300 for everything.

Jules says ... Great place, good meal!

Sharing Air in Lembeh Strait

Cheers Endee!

25th October 2006 ... Teluk Kembahu 2 in Lembeh Strait, Sulawesi
Max Depth = 20.7m
Murex Tribulus could have been the last thing I saw ... if not for my buddy, Endee, whom I had to A.A.S. with (aka Share Air!)

WHAT IS THE BUDDY SYSTEM?
PADI requires that each diver be accompanied under water by a buddy who can share air or provide other assistance. SCUBA apparatus is designed to carry an extra demand regulator. This is required in case one diver runs out of air and has to share a single tank with his or her buddy. Ideally, the buddies should have similar training and skill levels; it does no good to have a buddy who dives deeper or stays down longer than you do. Buddies should stay close together and always be aware of each other's location.

Decanter, Damansara Heights

Decanter, Bukit Damasara (Damansara Heights) ... Tel: +603 2095 2507

The Map, "Simple! Fr Eastin go straight then turn off to yr left as if going to Bangsar just after Jakes and Victoria Station. Same way u go J and R. But JR u turn right at teh lights in front of Shell / Manulife / HP. Decanter u go straight until u c a Kebangsaan school. Then turn right. Tat road is Jalan Setiabakti."

Well, that was directions for the newer Decanter, which had a power-cut, so we went to the old one. Good 'yin-yong' (Kung-Fu Chau actually) and nice Chicken Wings too. Mmmmh... and Kilkennys and Tiger on tap, yum! THANKS :-)

BTW, that sticker/sign below was spotted in the loo ... Spot the Manglish, dude!

Here are various photos of our long journey to Lembeh, via Bali - Ujung Panjang - Manado ... and on the way back we had to stop at Makasar as well. This was certainly a TRIP AND A HALF, but I was in great company and the diving was out-of-this-world!

Soup Restaurant, Changi Airport (Singapore)

Brilliant chinese food, thanks Sam and Simmie!

This review that I recently read DOES do this restaurant justice;
"Does Chinese soup sounds appetizing to you?
If it does, then you should visit "Soup Restaurant"! And if it doesn't, don't say another word until you try "Samsui Ginger Chicken" soup.
I'm obligated to say that I think this soup isn't just delicious, but very, very delicious! And I won't be the last person who said that!
The chicken is served on a large plate with a bowl of ginger sauce in the center. You also got sliced cucumber and lettuce leaves. Now, place some chicken and cucumber in the lettuce leaf, and then top it with some ginger sauce. The next thing you can do now is just close your eyes, and let your tongue explore the flavor."
